Is this normal?
I am 2 weeks post-op and I feel like everything I try and eat doesnt agree with me. After I eat, I am always feel nauses(sp?). For example, I just drank a protein drink and it isnt settling well. I have not dumped, at least I dont think I have, I refuse to let anything come up but at times I think if I just do, I would feel so much better. This is not the road I want to go down as a friend of mine has done so after WLS. Eating and throwing everything up is not for me! This also happens when I am drinking water sometimes. I feel like I should go back to broths and creamed soups becasue I was comfortable there. I didnt feel like I feel now. As much as I hated broth after a few days, I was safe, if you know what I mean.
Am I doing something wrong? Am I eating to fast? Is there a reason I feel so yucky when I eat? Is my pouch just learning all over again like I am?

Finicky Pouch
Laura:
I hate to say it, but that yucky feeling can be normal. At your stage, I remember having some nauseous feelings after I ate. Nothing tasted good and I just didn't want to eat. The pouch can be a finicky lil thing.
What are you eating now besides protein drinks? If you're eating soft and mushy foods, maybe some of them are not agreeing with you. I remember trying a scrambled egg with protein powder in it. Oh my God, I felt sooooo sick afterwards. It was a long time before I could even think about eating scrambled eggs again. At two weeks post-op, you should still be trying to get enough water and protein.
Honestly, unless you start having real trouble keeping anything down or develop other symptoms, it will probably just take time for your pouch to settle down.
Hang in there. It gets better...honestly.

Yep I lived on cream of potato soup for the most part, and as soon as I was allowed to have cheese I started melting it up in the soup, it was thicker, and oh so good. When Kelly said try to stay away from soups, it was like, okay where can I turn, there is nothing that turns me on, and cream of potato is the only thing that satisfied me without making me nauseous. Get used to that for now, but it will go away, hang in there. One day you will wake up and realize you are tolerating more and more, a little each day. The nausea will lessen, there will come a day that you got through a whole day without being nauseous, then two days. There are good days, and bad days, and the bad days start becoming fewer and farther in between. Each day you will be able to consume a little more than the day before, and before you know it, you will long for the days when every thing made you nauseous.

Laura,
Unfortunately this sounds familiar to me. I was in the hospital for 16 days and all I could have was clear liquids. When I got home I tried to venture out every once in awhile but got the feelings your getting. I am almost 3 months out and still have those difficult days. Hang in there! I am counting on better days!

Laura,
Just one thing you might want to try...... My brother had the surgery years ago and found out that he was eating too much which caused him to throw up a lot. Maybe and just maybe you might be trying to put too much in your pouch. I know for me any time I put too much in I still get that nausea feeling. It is a good thing. But feel like crap.....
Just a thought.

Laura, me too!!
Laura,
Glad to know I'm not the only one. I asked that a while ago, I was just feeling "icky". I think what's helped is not eating as much, not that I was eating much anyway, but just a few bites, then stop. I waited a few minutes and had a couple more bites. I really think I was trying to eat too much.
I also quit taking all the extra vitamins I was trying to take. I just don't think my tummy can handle all of them yet. Especially when I'm not eating.
Hang in there, cream soups were always good too, feels good on the pouch.
