Default More Silly Questions

Hi all.. I havent posted in awhile.. SpringFever got me.. but with this snow.. ugh!!

Anyway.. I need some input.. I am 5 months post op, and from the very beginning it seemed i wasnt like most of you. I can eat alot.. ever since I went to solid foods, ive been able to eat just about anything. I read you guys talking about eating the tiny bits you do, and I wonder.. why can I eat so much?? I had the open RNY and nothing bothers me. I have never dumped not that I want to, but at least I would feel like I was normal. I keep wondering.. did my pouch open, so that I am using my reg stomach? I have lost weight, but it has been only about 5lbs every 5-6 weeks. I get really scared thinking I will go see my doc, he will take tests, say my pouch opened, and my only recourse is more surgery...

I was thinking the same thing! After reading what everyone is eating, it makes me feel like a pig!! Is it possible for our pouch to stretch like the stomach? I have been feeling there is something wrong, too. I do remind myself not to get on the scale every morning, only once a week. I think at first it was so fun to get ont he scale each morning and watch the pounds drop. Now after 8 months, the pounds are creeping! I think we just need to keep in mind how little we ate a month after surgery and try to cut back.

I am 17 months out this week, I can now eat a small pc of steak, about 2 tbsp of beans, 2 tbsp of veggies aand 2 tbsp of sopa. So about a cup of food if you were to put it in a measuring cup. Some days I can eat hardly anything. I think it has to do with the density of the food you are eating. Don't worry it just seems like you're eating a lot but if you measure it against a normal person your not.

Pam and Rhonda,

I am just like you guys. I feel like can eat way too much. I am not one the big losers I am almost 4 months out at have only lost 46 lbs. My doctor said I was one of the slow losers. I lose about 5 lbs a month. This bumbs me out. I was hoping to be at least 50 to 60 lbs down by now but that's just not my reality.

I have noticed one thing. The less I eat the less I am able to eat and the less I want to eat. When my husband is home for the day we go out to eat a lot. He eats 3 meals a day 2 of them are usually out. So when he is home I eat more. When he is working his 12 hour shift I eat less cuz. I some times go most of the day and have forgotten to eat any protein. Which is not good. But it makes me realize that maybe I am still eating out of habit or because it is time.

I am not saying that you guys are eating too much or constantly putting food in your mouth cuz I don't know that. I just know that for me, I have noticed that I some times eat out of habit and not out of actual hunger.

Tips and tricks for eating less. Find the pouch rules for dummies on the internet and use that. Also eat slower and put the fork down between bits. These are some things I have reminded myself to do in the past month.

Default Typical Salad

This is my lunch.. every day the same... cause I love it...

A pouch of tuna..3oz
1/4 cucumber
1/4 grn pepper
1/2 cup lettuce
1/2 cup cabbace
about 5 slices of beets
about 6-7 cherry tomatoes
and a squirt of cucumber ranch

All together.. it looks to be about 3 cups worth.. I know it packs down, and has lots of water.. but i can eat it ALL!!

Does this seem like alot??

That looks about the size of a salad that I can eat well. It disturbes me how much salad I can eat. yet with a more dense food I can not eat as much. But salads I can put it away.
