katz: I don't know if you were directing the question towards me or the original poster, but I'll answer anyway.

I was on Metformin before my operation to handle both my insulin resistance and PCOS. I was on Spironolactone for the wonderfu hair problem associated with PCOS as well, even though Spironolactone caused some hair loss on the scalp it worked wonders elsewhere.

Not sure that makes sense...but I had PCOS, with all the pain and HAIRY issues...and had a hysterectomy after 16 years of dealing with PCOS and endometriosis...and now after having my GBS I am noticing that my HAIR issues are possibly returning!! Yikes!!

Good luck

I started taking Metformin after going to a Bariatric doc for weight loss. The first question he asked me was what are you doing to manage your PCOS? At the time I was taking birth control only. The test revealed a very high testosterone level, and insulin resistance. I lost 130lbs. in 14 months, but like I said gained most of it back. I do not have the endometriosis, or the infertility. I am very hairy, very moody from the testosterone, and cannot each a carb without getting a dimple. The research that I have done is that 93% of women with PCOS/D are overweight. This is caused due to insulin resistance.

Last time I lost weight my hair issue got so much better. Really looking forward to it.

Thanks for responding and good luck!
