my surgery was 4/2/08 and I have only lost 17 lbs and i feel cheated! i havent lost any weight in 5 days. I dont know why! I cant eat but an ounce at a time/ 3 times per day. Will the weight start to come off again? Is there something that i am doing wrong?
I need advise on the proper foods to eat i am so confused, i have pretty much living on eggs and fish. I am getting bored with those things. LOL

Hello Brighteyegirl! I have found that by sifting through many of the forums you'll see that everyone loses at different rates. (I think I posted something like this before)! Sad but true. Some of us get off to a fast start and then slow way, way down. Some get off to a fast start and just keep on a going! Some start off slow and steady and eventually work up to faster weight loss.

I was in a funk because I hadn't lost weight in over a week and took the advice of some of the "sages" here. I stepped up my fluid intake, my protein intake and a bit more exercise. I added a few hundred more calories and this seemed to speed up my extremely dysfunctional metabolism a bit. I moved that scale a whole pound at the time...but hey...I'm not gaining either!

So take heart. You're going to lose it. I would perhaps get a hold of your Dietitian and find out some different things you might be able to eat and keep down. Otherwise, perhaps a visit with your Doc would help. Your medical team; plus excellent sites like this...might get you up and running again.

As always...just my two cents...which...in this day and age...is not worth zilch!!

Hug...mumsy

Aw, don't worry! It WILL come off, I swear! 17 pounds in a month is really great! I second several of the things Mumsy said -- eat more! Drink more! Exercise more (if you're feeling up to it). Sometimes we have this surgery and we think, ok, that's it, no more food ever again! But that's not true. It is very important to keep your nutrition intake up at healthy levels to the best of your ability.

I'm so glad you found this Forum. Take some time and search around in like the Nutrition and Post-Op sections. There are many great food ideas on this Forum. Have you tried eating beans? Chili? Cheese? Frigo Light Mozzarella sticks are a favorite around here. What protein supplement are you using? If you've tried a few and not liked them, don't despair -- there are many, many different kinds. I love Unjury chocolate and have a scoop every night mixed in General Mills International Sugar Free coffee drink flavors.

Most of all, please don't compare your numbers to anyone else. Everyone is different, and that's a cliche for a reason 'cause it's so true. Especially don't look at the guy's numbers -- they suck with their superfast metabolisms and their dropping 100 pounds in 3 months or whatever. Boo guys!

Smile Thank you

Thank you for your response I am sorry that I have not gotten back to you before. It is so funny that you said eat more, drink more and exercise more. I have started doing so and since 05/09/08 I have lost 5 lbs. I have been watching what I eat but also I am eating between 4 and 5 small meals a day and no salt! I have been walking every morning for half and hour before work as well. I was afraid to eat more. Not really so much as not being able to eat. I was afraid of stretching out my pouch. I have come to realize that I can do this and Yes the guys do suck with their ability to lose weight so much faster than us girls, but we dont have to worry so much about the lose skin like they do since we lose slower!(of course we still have some but not as much)
Thanks again! and thanks for the food ideas!
