Default Can this land me back in the hospital??

Hello everyone I need an opinion from anyone with knowledge..... I went to vist my doctor for my one year check up (its actually been fourteen months). I shared with them some troubling symptoms that I have been having coupled with the fact that I stopped taking my vitamins about 3-4 months after surgery. symptoms included: I HATE TO EAT BECAUSE IT MAKES ME FELL HORRIBLE AT LEAST 90% OF THE TIME! (I had a scope performed in October it came back perfectly normal) numbness in my feet and ankles, hot flashes, heart palputations, extremely tired and weak, headaches....there solution was advising me to BE ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL??

Did they run lab work on you? What is that showing?

I'm faithful with my supplements... posts like yours make me even more vigilent about them!!!

Keep us posted on things... Worried about you!

Isn't it a Vitamin B1 deficiency that causes some gnarly permanent damage that starts out with those symptoms?

I thought it was Vit B-12 deficiency...I'm on lunch at work, so don't have time to look it up right now.

Which ever it is, you gotta take your supplements! Get chewables, or liquids, whatever...but take them.

Another good reason for being diligent about taking vits and having regular follow-up visits and bloodwork done.

I've taken my vits/supplements (and some) religiously yet my 6 months labs came back with marginal results.

My suggestion is that at this stage, you have no option but to take their advice and have a stay in hospital.

The symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include an inflamed tongue, diarrhea, poor appetite, numbness and tingling in the exteremeties, and low blood count.

This is just a little bit about vitamin deficiency.

classic case of the irriversable vit b 12 deficiency. Why on earth did you stop taking your vitamins? You do realize you have to take them for life. Its NOT a temporary thing. I would hope your surgeon scolded you about that. Sista if your not taking vitamins go get them and start again now. The lethargy is probably the same do to maybe an low iron or b vitamins as well. I cant stress the importance that you need to be on the vitamins FOR LIFE! Yeah i'm positive you are suffering from malabsorbtion, thats partly what the GBS does and then to top it off you havnt been following the directions. I would say goto the ER as well and whatever they tell you to do...DO IT

i pray you dont have anylong term effects from this honey

Default Update

Hello everyone just a quick update on my real life STUPIDUDITY! (is that a real word...lol). I was admitted into the hospital on Monday morning suffering from sever dehydration and MALABSORBTION (imagine that). Im not really sure what I was thinking (maybe I wasnt thinking after all) but after losing the weight and looking great I lost sight of the life long goal, STAYING ALIVE!

So after being scorned to hell by my surgeon, who clearly once again outlined how I could end up paralized and/or dead if I dont stick to my end of the deal. And being connected to IV's and given fluids, thiamine, b1, b12, iron...to name a few Im slowly beginng to feel close to normal. I was beginning to think I wouldnt make it through another night. The CT
Scan revealed that I have a obstruction that is contributing to my nausea and discomfort. I have NEVER liked taking meds/pills but after this near death experience they have made a believer out of ME.

My Surgeon said some pretty harsh words to me here are the ones I'm choosing to share. "Society is looking for a reason to discredit the need for GBS and its people like YOU that are given them a reason to believe they are right"!

So all of you out there when you read a blog like mine..that keep it real...tell it like it ti is...dont hold your tongue...says stupid is as stupid does...YOU JUST KEEP IT COMING THANK YOU FOR CARING......

Maybe writing and sharing my own STUPIDITY will help just one person to stay on track and take your vitamins, and supplements and drink plenty of liquids.
