How fast did you lose?
I'm wondering how fast you lose weight in the first few weeks following surgery. The surgeon told me I'd probably gain weight in the hospital because of all the fluids and meds. But after you get home, how fast does it come off?
I'm already down about 2 dress sizes from my pre-op weight loss, and I'm close to running out of clothes that fit. But that's a great feeling. My baggy jeans are starting to get really uncomfortable and I can't keep them on me without a belt. It's a good thing I saved some of my old (smaller) clothes.

I was 350 when i went in to the hospital, 368 when i left (fliuds and whatnot). At my 10 day post-op I was 341 (-9 from pre-op, 27 from post op fluid grossness). At my 6 week I was 322 (-28 from pre-op). At my 3 mo I was 291 (-59 from pre-op) and now at 6 mo, I'm 263 (-87 from pre-op).
I think I am somewhat of a slow loser and I tend to stall every 3ish weeks thanks to the wonderfulness of hormones and being a girl. I'm happy with my progress overall. Counting my pre-op weight loss I'm down 125 overall. I hope that's helpful!

Hi there! I am 32 days out from surgery and I am down 27 lbs. so far. My first post-op was 10-days from my surgery date and I lost 15 lbs. during that time. However, when I first came home I was up about 4-6 lbs. from surgery date. Part of that was swelling and part was because I was mixing my protein shake with milk which my stomach didn't tolerate too well. My next visit was 7 days later and I had lost another 7 lbs. then 5 in the last two weeks.
Most importantly, I think it's important that you realize that everyone loses differently and a weight loss of two pounds is just an wonderful as 10 lbs. I have to remind myself of that all the time because I was getting discouraged already by only losing 5 lbs. in two weeks. I liked that 15 lbs. in 10 days thing! lol. Realisitically though, 2 lbs. a week keeps you healthier and as long as there isn't a gain, you're right on track. Good luck with your upcoming surgery!!

I gained 14 pounds in the hospital. I was in for 5 days, and ofcourse on an IV for the whole time. A week after, the scale showed that I had lost 1 pound from my pre-op weight. Only 1 stinkin' pound! But that was only because of retaining so much fluid in the hospital. Since then it has just fallen off. Once you get over that hump, you'll see the scale start to really move.
Good Luck!

I had surgery on April 21st. Weight prior to surgery 242. Came home next day. Weight 254. Today I am at 229. I know we shouldnt weigh everyday but i did it before i had surgery so its a bad habit I cant kick-- I take every days weight with a grain of salt though. Dont think too much about it if i gained or lost.

i hate to admit it although hoping it will help someone else. I am addicted to weighing in daily and even when i told my 15 year old to hide the scale i went and found it I pay the price for that too. I think i'm a really slow looser. Most of my weight came off the first 2 months. Now i'm like loosing a whopping 6 / month if that so who knows

Since my second surgery I have lost 48 lbs in a month BUT I also didn't eat that whole month. I had to take my 60ml protein from my G tube and was only this wednesday allowed to eat eggs, cottage cheese, and refried beans. I also started at a higher weight. I think that makes a difference too. Now I have slowed down to about a lbs and a half a day loss. I hope to be under 300 lbs (which I haven't been in at least 8 years) by mothers day but we will see.

I am four months post op, and since surgery, I have lost 73lbs.
Things like periods make me either gain, or stop loosing, which I am right now, and have a nasty cold so I am drinking lots of fluids, which is keeping me from loosing, agravating, but all I care right now is to get over this nasty cold .
Weight does come off, for some faster then others, but the numbers go down, I think a lot depends how much you have to loose percentage of your weight.
Congrats on your date, it will be here before you know, hang in there and awsome weight loss so far,, two thumbs up to you.
