I'm glad I read this thread. I didn't know you gained so much weight in the hospital! I thought with Lap RNY you're only in there for 2 nights if there aren't any complications.

I had lap RNY last Tuesday and was in the hospital two nights (no complications whatever). I hadn't realized that the IV causes you to retain a LOT of fluid, so when they weighed me the first night after surgery, I had gained 12 pounds. They did warn me before I stepped on the scale, but still... My face was really, really puffy from the water retention -- two little sunken holes where my eyes were! LOL!

But once the IV was out (second night after surgery), and I began peeing regularly (a LOT), that weight came off almost instantly.

I am five days out now, and have lost 5 pounds since my pre-surgery weight.

Everyone loses at his or her own rate, as you know. I'd LOVE to be one of those folks whose weight is all lost in 6 months, but I am realistic and know that ain't gonna happen. But one can dream!

I'm already down about 2 dress sizes from my pre-op weight loss, and I'm close to running out of clothes that fit. But that's a great feeling. My baggy jeans are starting to get really uncomfortable and I can't keep them on me without a belt. It's a good thing I saved some of my old (smaller) clothes.
Make sure you attend support groups out there and take advantage of clothing exchanges. I found a girl who had surgery 3 weeks before i did, so she was always 2 sizes smaller than I was. She would hand me her old clothes (thank you Crystal we miss you like mad) and then I would hand mine to Tracy ( I miss you sugar pea) and then she would pay it forward. That way if you cant attend every clothing exchange you can find people who have the same style sense you have and get their old stuff! Clothing exchanges are a blast though... or at least they can be.

Also, I lost 120 pounds n 7 months. Im an unsual case though, I lost like a man. But then again I am 5'11 and had more muscle mass to burn fat faster.

Its all science when it comes to losing, keep youre eyes on your own numbers and try not to compare your loss to others. You will lose as you should.. okay? Best wishes sista!

I'm just being nosey here ... but why did you have to have another surgery? What happened??
