Restaurant Suggestions?
Hi All -
Tomorrow is mine and my dh's 5th anniversary and we are planning to go out and celebrate. Of course, part of that is eating out. Can anyone suggest a great restaurant (casual to upscale) and something from the menu that's wls friendly. At this point, I can handle most foods, if they are prepared healthily and if I take my time eating them. But, I definitely want to enjoy our date - we get so few of them - and don't want to risk being sick. Right now I am thinking some place with great soup just to be on the safe side. (Like Carraba's. I love their minestrone - or did pre-surgery.) Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
A~

i'm still pre-op..
but Applebee's has a whole menu page of Weight Watcher meals from appetizers to desserts. Most of them that i've tried have been pretty tasty!

I'm not sure where you are with your eating plan but the first restaurant I went to was Applebees. They have a shrimp skewer on the weight watcher menu that is delicious. It comes with steamed broccoli and a couple skewers of shrimp. I think I ate one skewer and took the other home.

Anyplace with fish or shrimp or crab or something like that. I've eaten the mashed potatoes too at Red Lobster, and hate the Pasta Fagiole soup at Olive Garden. Just look for the protein stuff that's not deep fried.
And can I just say--the new avatar is stunning! Congratulations and Happy Anniversary!
-Mike
PS. My wife and I had our anniversary 6 weeks after my surgery. We went to an upscale steak and fish place. I had a grilled seafood platter from which I ate 2 shrimp, 1 giant scallop, and 2 bites of a crab cake. I brought the rest home and got 3 more meals out of it!

I just had my first restaurant experience at lunch today, and I'm proud of myself! It was a mediterranean buffet, and I ate a piece of baked fish (about 1/2 of it really). Although the fruit looked delicious, I remembered protein first. Now that I had lunch with one friend another one wants me to go to happy hour with her. Now I'm trying to find a restaurant that serves a protein friendly dish, and am so glad Amy asked this question.

For me, I can generally eat pretty much anywhere with a little creativity. I tend to avoid Chinese because of the grease and the noodles, and Italian becaue of the pasta.
