Oh god it hurts
Alright, so I got a piece of meat stuck today around 4ish. After a couple hours of uncomfort, I decided to just get up and start doing stuff. After a while, it feel like it went down. I tried a small piece of chicken and I ended up having to make that come up. I felt a bit better. A little while later I took a sip of my tea, and I had to make THAT come up. So over a period of about 6 hours or so I had to make myself throw up about 5 or 6 times because I was trying to get sips of liquid down. Now that I'm home, I took a small spoonful of cereal that was mushy in milk, and it feels like it went down, but is still a bit uncomfortable. My question is, could something getting stuck kinda bad cause stricture? I'm hoping that tomorrow I will be ok, and just have to baby the pouch for a day or so before I can resume semi normal stuff. I definitely know I pushed it with trying the meat, but I am able to eat chicken really well. Anyone else ever have a problem like this? I have another follow up on Monday, but if this doesn't get better I'm thinking of calling the Doc.

I generally am very careful about liquifying everything before swallowing. Even with chicken I can get till its just mush. I guess I just wasn't thinking enough. I kinda figured I pissed it off pretty bad. And yes, its really no fun. I almost wish I would just dump instead of it getting stuck. Just glad I'm not the only one.

6 months post op and chicken still makes my pouch mad. It seems like when ever I throw up my stomach hurts for at least a day and I have to baby it with liquids and mushie stuff. If you drink little sips slowly does it stay down? I hope you feel better soon.

One time I ate a 1/2 a bagel waaayyyy too fast and it was literally stuck for 16 hours...about 12 of those hours were OMG hours and the rest were just uncomfortable. You pissed your pouch off, now it will take time to be nice again.
Needless to say, bagel has NEVER passed these lips again.

I'm so sorry you have to go through that. I'm so scared of that. The only meat I'm allowed to have 4 weeks out is fish. I get to add turkey at 8 weeks and ground beef at 12 weeks. Can't have chicken or steak until 6 months. They said they have found that many people have trouble chicken. Some for life. So you're not alone. I'm going to be scared to even try it at 6 mos. I'm such a chicken when it comes to dumping. Haven't yet thank goodness.

Its pretty early for you on meats...so take it VERY SLOW. When the pouch is pissed, give it a rest for a few meals and then start again slowly.
I also did something to help with pouch with new foods...stack the food in there. ie: take a bite of protein, then something else like mashed potato, a veggie and then repeat. Start off slow but I found eating the same kind of food bite after bite, I increased my risk of pissing it off.

I was quite surprised that I could eat chicken. I can only eat one medium chicken leg, but its still a good source of protien. My Doc allowed me (staying within the diet limits) anything as tolerated. Soft foods included chicken and fish.

Like the others have said, you probably pissed off your pouch. Sometimes when you do this it can get a little swollen and irritated so it takes a little time to let things settle down. Like Duckie said, (she's so smart! ) just go back to the soft mushy stuff for a day or so. If you do continue to have trouble though or if it becomes progressively worse then you will want to let your doctor know.
