Default Question about Dumping??????

Hello all!!!! I have a quick question about dumping...can anyone help. First some background on my situation. I am 2 months and 9 days post-op. I am thrilled to say I have lost 109 lbs, yes 109!!!! I am in the century club! Here starts the problem. I have been going to the gym and walking about 3-5 miles a day (because I now can). Well this weekend my foot swelled up so I went to the hospital, because of the incredible pain. It turn out that I have an avulusion of the fifth metatarsal. Technical name for a bone chip in the fifth little foot bone. Anyway, I am wearing on of those velcro booties and my cardio and gym activites are side tracked, as well as my olympic marathon training for the next trials(haha). I was given 600mg of motrin for pain. Not big on pills, but my foot was killing me today, so I took one. About 20 minutes later, my pouch started to feel crappy. So I decided to have about 2 oz of turkey chili. About 10 minutes later I thought I was going to die. I turned white as a piece of notebook paper, broke out into a cold sweat, and felt like someone was ripping my guts out of my body. It did pass in about 15 minutes. My question is does this sound like dumping, or could it be from the motrin??? Is this similar to others and dumping........Thanks

I was told I can never take Motrin / Ibuprofen...it is a big no-no....hard on the pouch. I don't know if it would cause dumping. I would check with yur doctor right away.

Default Dumping

It is dumping. I had my original surgery in 1987 but it is leaking so I'm having it redone. As to your situation, check the sugar content of the chilli. Something did not agree with you and sugar is usually the cause.

I am with Dale on this one. We have been told to never take Motrin it can cause bleeding and is rough on the pouch. I would follow up with whatever doctor prescribed the Motrin and ask for a different type of pain med.

Good Luck on your foots recovery.

In our papers we were told that we could take ibuprofen one or two days, so I am thinking that the motrin was probably a 600 or 800 mg, maybe a little too strong. Maybe the combonation of the chili and motrin, or maybe too much too fast. Good Luck.

Could be the Motrin, could be the turkey chili. I can not handle turkey in any way, shape, or form now. Makes me feel that exact way you described.

It's the Motrin....Motrin/Ibuprofin is hard on any stomach. That's why normal stomachs have to take it with food or a big glass of milk. It's even harder on ours.

I wish I could help you, but I just don't know. I think you need to speak with your doctor.
