Default What Vitamins Are U All Taking

Hello Everyone,

I feel like I am not taking enough vitamins. I have been taking the centrum chewable multi-vitamin and calcuim carbinate chewables and thats about it daily. I know its not enough, could you all give me some brand names that you are taking for multi-vitamin, i dont think I am supposed to be taking calcuim carbinate but the citrate ones right? What else should I be taking. And do we have to still take chewable forms even after 2 months of RYN surgery or can we take swallowable pills and will it still malabsorb? I prefer chewable brands of vitamins. Please give me some of the ones you all are taking?

Sasha - first thing to remember is that RNY people should be on calcium citrate, not carbonate. Carbonate requires an acidic stomach, which is bypassed in us.

And it's also important to remember that we need vitamin D to absorb calcium too. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is the stuff we need.

Citracal makes calcium citrate with D in pill form, Bariatric Advantage does chewables - I believe that Building Blocks have them too. My choice is UpCalD powder.

Check out vitalady.com - she has a good selection of stuff aimed at WLS people.

I started out with Centrum chewables (2 a day), vitamin B-12 (1000mcg) and calcium citrate with D (3 x 500mcg).

I take a lot more supplements now. But this is something you need to discuss this with your doc/NUT.

This makes for some interesting reading http://gastricbypass.netfirms.com/vi...mendations.pdf
