Thumbs up Ice Cube Trays

When I went for my pre-op one of the lil bits of info the nutritionist shared with us was when you are still on the pureed diet and you blend up all that food into liquid, put it in Ice cube trays and freeze it. Once frozen pop out and put in freezer baggies and return to freezer. Then for your meals all you have to do is microwave a couple and they are perfect servings and ready to go. Does anyone have any other cool ideas that will keep us from blending and food processing all day?

Question Pureed food/blender?

Hi Suzeq,
As with everything, different surgeons have different techniques and requirements.

With Dr. Callery & Dr. Potts, we aren't to puree our food. We're supposed to chew, chew, chew until it's mush. Kelly advised us that we weren't even to buy baby food because she wants us to be in control of the texture.

I remember her telling us during one of our pre-op nutritional seminars that we are to practice taking pencil-eraser-sized bites and chew to one of two songs, the Jeopardy theme song or "It's a Small World". She also recommended sipping our liquids with a teaspoon, because these were the sizes we were supposed to use to measure the sips we were to take and the bites we were to chew on. I would highly recommend doing this. It really is amazing just how mushy your food gets and how quickly it can disappear as you chew.

Your day is coming soon. You must be excited and full of nerves at the same time. It's all normal and soon you will be posting on the "other" side of it all. Your thoughtful husband, (I think it was cute and sweet that he took you on a date to Red Lobster), will have his time of excitement for you and the same nerves. It sounds like your family is very supportive and you are going to have nothing but success. We look forward to hearing about all of the successes you share with us.
