I have a dumb question. Lap RNY is not the Gastric Bypass surgery right? I noticed that most who post here have had the Lap RNY. Is Lap RNY the band?

Oh! Wait a second. Lap means Laproscopic. Boy do I feel stupid. So Lap RNY is the Gastric Bypass, right? Duh! So you have all had the Bypass, not the Band, right?

Lap RNY meaning is laproscopic, they go in with the camera and through several punch holes in the belly and do it that way. Differs from the Open RNY where they actually open to reach in.

Lap Band is the platic band they tie around the entrance of the stomach making a tiny pouch separating it from the rest of the stomach. The stomach is not cut in two like in the RNY.
