Unhappy I've got body blues .... :(

Okay guys, I am just about 41/2 months out.. down almost 80 pounds. I am so disgusted with the way my body looks right now... I could just scream!
I stopped and looked into the mirror naked this weekend and I was horrified. I never really took a good look at myself... boy was I in for a surprise.

On our walk on Saturday, Mary said that she felt that way about half way through her weight loss... anybody else have the same blues? What did you do to cope or do I just have to wait it out? I really feel like an elephant... all wrinkly and droopy.. sorry for the visual... I am really down about this. Now more than ever I have major insecurities about my body. Help me please!

Default body blues

bridgett,
i had my surgery in april 2003. i know some people don't agree with this or believe in it, but what helped me is in august of 2003 i started going religiously 3 times a week, have not missed once, to a circuit gym and it has made a big difference. all that flap, has turned to muscle. my husband can't believe it. i felt the same way. i walk, also, four days a week, but the toning is as important. i think since i've been going to the gym i eliminated me having plastic surgery, also.

Wink Well, just don't stand in front of the mirror naked!

I can't really help, Bridget, cuz you know that I'm only two months out. The only suggestions I can make is to keep using that coffee scrub, do the walks, and try some weight lifting or circuit training. Check back in two weeks (which should be about a month of the scrub?) and let us know what you see.

Wish I could be more help... I don't want you to have the blues!

Talking It will get better

Bridget,
Like I told you on our walk, it will get better. When you lose all of the fat under the skin and your muscles get harder and the skin has time to shrink... you will look so much better. You are at the worst point, about half way were everything is drooping and flopping. Don't obsess about it. Stay away from the mirror naked that is an order!

You are doing great, keep up the good work. Soon you will be a godess on the outside as well as the inside

Default Lose skin

Well, Melanie, I don't know how you did it. I lost just over 100 pounds and started working out within 3 weeks. I go to the gym six days a week and have always done that. I work our rigorously and lift weights. Yet, sadly, I still have lose skin all over my body.....arms, thighs, tummy, rear-end, etc. i will never be able to afford plastic surgery, so I'll just learn to live with it. I think it is a matter of how tight your skin is naturally or something. Actually, anyone else not have lose skin after losing all your weight? Melanie, you might be the winner of the losers here.

Smile Hey Dale!

I was thinking about you recently, hadn't heard from you lately on the site. I am happy to see you again...... man the body issues... CRAZY! I wasnt prepared for this, but thankfully I have you seasoned post ops to turn to. It's good to hear what seems to have worked for some and failed for others, like you said... everything is different for everybody. I have my fingres crossed that things "come back" to somesort of a normal state. It's still early though, all I can do is workout and hope for the best.

I haven't reached that point yet since I've only had it 2 weeks ago but it is one of my fears. However, I'm looking forward to being more healthy and hope that will continue to be my first and foremost concern. Think of how good you look now compared to how you did 4 1/2 months ago, maybe that will make the extra droop a little more bearable.

I'm right there with ya girl.. I beefed up my work out regime and hopefully will start seeing some results.. I guess this is a nasty phase we go through.. but heck I'd rather go through this phase.. then one more day of being 60-80 lbs heavier..

Hang in there girl.. everything will work out..
