Default Wow such a ride...finally back home!

Hello allllllllllllllllllll,

Wow, I am finally home..feeling great...tomorrow one week post-op...I arrived in Bruges on Wednesday, 9 April at 8am...my operation actually happened a bit later...around 4pm...I was waiting sooooooooooo anxious..but I was sharing a room with a lovely girl from UK so we were chatting, gossiping, laughing and time passed...

All i remember I woke up around 18 or 19 in sooooooooooo much pain..they were taking the tube out of my troat..and..grgrggr..I felt the pain of the operation...I was asking for tonssssss of painkillers and the sister said: THIS IS THE LAST FOR YOU GIRL! That night I couldnt sleep and I was still in pain but less then before...but from that moment onwards it has been a GREAT journey...Friday I was walking throughout the halls feeling excellent! No more pain killers...Saturday I was relesed from hospital...Sunday, Monday walking and enjoying Bruges...

The pain went away, I dont feel dizzy at all, actually I feel very well..I can stand tastes and smells just I eat very very little at this point and I feel FULL. I could eat all that they gave me in the hospital on the 3rd day: dry bread, jam, milk, yogurt, mash potatoes, blended meat, etc..however, in such small small quantities (tiny peaces!). I don’t think I am taking more than 300 calories per day, but I can tolerate all kinds of tastes.

No shoulder pain, no coffining, being able already to walk 2-3 hours per day...

AND!!!!!!!!!!!Today I measured myself, and in one week I have lost 6kg!!!!!! That is 13.5 pounds...So I used to be 92.5kg (203.9 pounds) and now I am 86.5kg (190.6 pounds).

My wounds are all good except the one with the dranage..there is still lickage there, but I hope it is normal and it will get dry soon. I can write much now, but I just wanted to share my GREAT one-week experience…

Until soon,

Sunny

Default thanks to all

Thank you all for your nice, worm words! Now I am almost 2 weeks post-op and still doing great! My energy level is excellent although I eat very very little...I eat often (3-4 times a day), but still do not take more than 300 calories...I hope this is more or less normal at the very beggining and it will get better with time...I walk often and do all as told to do...One of my wounds still has just a bit of blood each day, but again, I hope this will go away soon and it will get completely dry...I will meet with the doctor on Monda to check these wonds...Thanks for all your great support!

Many hugs,
Sunny

Welcome DILLEBABE!!!
Yep, Sunny is one of the amazing Dr. D's "Babes"!
You'll find that the way in which "we" lose is slightly different from the US - we are able to eat most things very early on. At 4 1/2 months out, I really am understanding the NECESSITY for us to drink WATER! You MUST MUST MUST drink that WATER!

Long may your euphoria and success reign!
Remember to take photographs regularly and body measurements - one soon forgets!

You have seen a good section of European help and advice on the UK forum? Several of us are Dr. Dillemans' patients.
May all go well for you in your recovery and please keep us posted!
Cheers,

Vim in London
Dillebabe
