Default Traveling 3 months post op - WTE

What to Eat OR Where to eat

Due to my bypass surgery we hadn't planned on doing a vacation this summer, but today my spouse found out he had an opportunity to travel for a few days in July, which will be a few days after my 3 month anniversary.

What can I expect to be eating at 3 months? Am I going to be able to go to a restaurant and find a side dish or something, or will I need to take my blender along and prepare the night before for my next day of travel?

In the past we enjoyed dinning out when we traveled and we both realize that will change, but I was wondering what options I could expect at 3 months.

Thanks

totally doable at 3 months. I'm 3 1/2 months and getting ready to go on a trip. You can find virtually anything on a menu that will suit your requirements. Chicken, fish, veggies, just make sure to ask in advance for a doggie bag

Default you will be doing great by then

I'm at just over 2 months and I eat most things easily. But like she said above me, get a doggie bag because you won't be able to finish it!

The only thing you may find is that some things you DON'T like anymore. There are some things I used to love that I can't eat anymore (just a taste issue because of ketosis). Also the most challenging thing for me has been beef. I tried a couple of bites of bbq and have yet to keep it down. Other than that everything is great!

The easiest thing to do is ask them to bag up half of it when you order; you're much less tempted to eat more than you should if you don't have that much on your plate when you start eating. And if the waitress insists on giving you water when you tell her you don't want anything to drink, don't be afraid to send it back! Most people assume you're being cheap and don't want to pay for something, but if it's there you're probably going to reach for it without thinking lol. I tried to keep it on the table the first few times, but I slip up too easily with it beside me. So unless you want to be really focused on keeping your hands off a drink... make them take it back.

I just returned from a 7 day little trip. I am over 2 months out and did just fine. At mexican food places I ordered beans and was just fine and soup at most of the nicer places. You will be just fine... Good luck and have a blast...
