Hey guys

I am 3 weeks out, and doing purees. I went back to work after 2 weeks and am pretty tired all the time. I am getting in all my water, and about 50-60 of protien a day. I feel pretty good, except the tiredness, and this pain in my left side. It comes and goes, but for the most part it is just a constant ache. I go back May 9th for my 6 week, and then well I guess 3 month, etc. I hit my 3 week plateau this week, but I upped the protein so all should go well soon.

Glad to hear others are doing good!

Cari

Default Doing Good

HI,
my surgery was on the 10th and i have lost about 30 pounds. I am doing good except I am not getting all the fluids in. I start out with a 20 oz drink and it can take me all day to drink it. I usually get one 12 oz cup of hot decaf in and that goes down better.
Funny I can eat a very cold sugar free popcical but have a hard time drinking anything cold.
Also, I take so many vitamins and having hard time mixing them in with my food.
I take 1 chewable multi
1 vitamen B12 under tounge. those do good
then i tri to mix in a capsul of Bcomplex, iron, and the one for your hair (can't recall right now.) those i am not getting in every day.n oh ya and there is the vitamin D capsul.
Anyways I am glad this thread got started and hope to keep it up every month someone should start it or continue this one.
keep up the good work everyone. and good luck
Befor surgery 234
now 204 Ya!!!

It is taking me a little effort to try to deal with my "hungry head"... because even though my BODY doesn't want the food... my head does! It gets to me, when I am craving something - and when I finally get to EAT it - I'm full in about 4 bites! LOL

I'm eating EVERYTHING except white bread and sugar... I'm so pleased! I never seem to get enough fluids though, so I'm working on that.

I'm sick of mashing my pills... they taste absolutely dreadful. I'm taking them though - and my vitamins and calcium.

I've had one issue with throwing up - maybe slight dumping. I ate a sugar free cookie - and oh my. I'll never do it again. I'm guessing the sugar alcohols got to me - It only lasted for about 15 minutes. Thank God!

My clothes are getting baggy - and that is SUCH a good feeling. Sometimes I feel like maybe I'm not losing enough, but at my 3 week post-op appointment I'd lost 21lbs - and the Dr. said I was on "the high end of normal".

I'm trying to excercise - and last night, because it was raining, and I couldn't walk - I did a "Taebo" video - and oh my gosh... do I feel it today!

Thanks for this thread. It's nice to keep in touch with the people who had surgery around the same time as me. Kinda keeps us on our toes to watch everyone's progress.

Have a great day!
Oh, so much of your post is exactly how I feel! I finally got to quit crushing pills! I could've had a party! Crushed pepcid is NASTY! And, oh, those mistakes! Don't we pay for mistakes later? I've made three so far! Blech. And fluids...I've got to do better. Every night, I assess myself and vow to drink more tomorrow. It's just never enough.

But I feel good, so I guess that makes the rest okay.

Yes, I figure that this thread gives us a way to keep tabs and help each other out as needed!

I am doing ok still pretty sore on the left side. Still cleaning a primrose drain they had in. I am tired of being sore..... and I am searching for some sources of protien that dont make me want to hurl. I have lost 15 or so pounds in the last 2 weeks. so I am pleased with that... hopefuly soon I will start feeling better...

Hi everyone, I was done on 03/20/07 and this thread is kinda neat.

I am a stay at home mother of 5 kids and I wacky husband. I am lucky to have them though. My daughter Lauren reminds me daily of why I needed this surgery and keeps my hopes up. My husband is a life saver literally, if it wasn't for him and all his understanding and strength I don't think I could've done half the things I've done til now.

I walk at least 1 mile every day and I've recently been ok'ed by the doct. to start adding reg. foods slowly back into my diet.

I had not taken my Carafate right after the surgery but have been now for 3 weeks total. So I am good with that. I had a 2nd EGD & he checked to make sure I had nothing stuck and that my opening was wide open and it is.

My skin is still somewhat itchy and I am doing ok with my vitamins. I am on a multi and a liquid B12. I haven't yet started anything for my hair & nails in the way of vitamins but I am going to. I am deathly afraid of losing my hair and....well the truth is I cry to myself in my head sometimes about it. I don't want it to happen. I am sorry if I sound vain but...but...it's a personal issue of mine and I can tolerate most everything else but that. I struggle every day wondering when it's gonna happen and how the hell can I make it stop quickly. I know I shouldn't even be worried about it but I am.

Other than that so far so good. I just seem to be stuck at my current weight. No loss and no gain. I dunno why and to be honest sometimes, I just don't care. Anyone else ever get in that mode? Like you just want to be normal like you were before the surgery? Prolly not huh? It could just be me being dumb again.

*nods*

Yep the whole protein things sounds a lot easier than it really is. I am getting real tired real quick of those thick funky drinks and I want to eat normal foods with iron and protein except those are the most dense and harder to handle foods right now this early out.

I just need to refocus and try to keep my hopes up. Thank you for the talk, it helps to know we are not alone in our daily struggles.

I don't think I've ever been such best friends with a calendar before and now I mark it and write on it and essentially can't live without it. It's like a life line for me now that holds the majic key to 'normalcy' for me. Although I know it doesn't really, in my head it does.

I don't mean to sound dumb or anything but what is a "G-tube"?
