Default post-op appointment

I had my 1 month post op appt today. I was nervous about it... not sure why. Well I met with my surgeon and I weighed in at a 22 pounds loss. She said most patients lose between 20 and 40 pounds. She was thinking I would be at more then I was. She said that my big losing months are going to be the first three months and then it will get a little harder. I have read that from others on here. She wants me to get down around 150-160 for a goal weight. I walked out of there a little disappointed in myself... I wish I would have exercised more the first month... I hope I can make up for lost time. It frustrates me because I will be real good about walking for a few and then won't walk for a few days. I just had to share my day with you guys... I go back in May...

I know she is just looking out for me because I have a lot of weight to lose.. but it really comes down to self discipline! So Lu Lu needs to get her groove on

We just got dumped with snow again in MN... so much for the first day of spring. The poor robins do not know what to think. I think we will be hunting eggs in the snow

Happy Easter everyone... have a great weekend!!

Don't you dare be down on yourself! You're 22 pounds closer to your goal than you were a month ago. You just had surgery--give yourself a break, girl!

As you move into your 2nd month, you're doing the right thing--gathering up the resolve to exercise more. After a couple more weeks, you can safely start using exercise machines and weights. Be sure to keep your fluids and proteins up and don't worry about anything except: protein, fluids, vitamins, and exercise. Those are the only four things that matter right now.

You have 22 reasons to celebrate today. This time next month, I bet you'll have 22 more. Claire said something in a post the other day about how much/little we all are losing and the rates that individuals experience: She said, "in a year, it won't matter." In a year, you'll be down so far that the previous year will be nothing but a memory and you and your new bod will be prancing around!

I'm toasting you with my protein shake! You are awesome, and you're kicking ass. Just keep kicking it!

LuLu, Mike gives good advice. You are doing just fine, my dear! Every pound is a reason to celebrate and EVERY pound is a success. I like to look at each pound as a brick in a wall. You need to lay each brick successfully in order to have a beautiful wall. Just follow the rules, my dear. Your body will lose at the rate that it wants to. We aren't all the same and personally I feel that doctors who stress a certain rate of loss or even a particular goal are setting their patients up for feelings of failure if they don't reach their goals or lose as fast as the doctor thinks they should. JMHO.

Personally, I'm celebrating those 22 pounds you have gone. I think that is awesome!

Oh, Lulu! We could have a series of pm's about this! I haven't done nearly as well as I expected either. I'm already dreading weighing in! I lost more the first week laying around than I have the second week trying to walk. I'm getting plenty of protein, but figure I will just drink more. I know that some are slow to lose, but didn't you just HOPE that you wouldn't be one of 'em?? I figure I have never lost 8 pounds in 17 days in my life, so compared with other methods, this is working!

Keep your chin up! Mike is right...you are 22 pounds closer to goal now than you were. (And I add my toast of fruit punch crystal lite!)

Just think LuLu, you've lost more than 10% of the weight you want to lose ALREADY! In just one month!

When I think of things that way, it always makes me feel better.

Lulu, I join you in the 'losing slower than I want club'.. not sure if it helps but know you're not alone. I'm just over 7 weeks post op- and the last five weeks have been very difficult for me, I've been up and down the same four pounds (currently down those four) throughout that whole time.

If it weren't for the people here in this group, I don't know what I'd do.. I'd surely be out of my mind with worry by now.

Just keep doing what you know you need to do, and I have faith that you'll get to where you need to go. That's what I keep telling myself anyway :-)
