Default Chewing and Timing?

Okay, my question to all you weight loss surgery veterans, is this. I was told to be eating a bite every 2 minutes and when drinking to be taking a sip every 2 minutes. Do you find this to be a lifelong thing or can you speed this up just a tad to say when you are eating taking a bite every 1 minute instead? I know you need to be slow and chew, enjoy your food and take your time. I was just curious what people have found when they are eating out or at home. What's your general rule of thumb for how slow to be taking bites or sips.

Thanks a ton!

i'm really bad at taking a slow time to eat my meals. I do chew it too mush but i'm really bad at the slow part i think it only takes me like 10 minutes to finish a meal.

Start off slow, like your post. It does change over time, listen to your body and you will know. I eat pretty much like a normal person now. Maybe a little slower than pre-op, but you wouldn't know I had GBP when you eat with me, other than I don't drink with my meals, I eat small portions and I make good choices.

Default my first couple weeks I was instructed to

drink 1oz every 15 minutes. Sipping like wine, not downing like a shot. The more your swelling goes down, the more you can drink a little faster.

I think once I got out of the hospital, they told me to drink 4oz every 30 minutes. I think I probably drink more than that now, but it gives me no problems.

This is your life, not some guide book that must be followed!
Listen to your instinct - you'll soon learn what YOUR body is comfortable with - YOU are the one on the journey of a lifetime!
LisaBoston's advice is always sound. Have faith in yourself - within 10 days you'll have your routine, as it suits you!
I bought a digital egg timer to save me from clock watching. I still hold quite close to keeping a 30 minute gap after eating before I drink and when I have finished drinking time 30 minutes before I have a snack or a meal.
Good luck!
Cheers!
Vim

Default strict diet

I had my surgery 12 days ago and I am still on such a strict diet. liquied liquids liquids, yuk i am so sick of liquids. Monday I get to advance to puree foods for two weeks. That means oatmeal, beens, cottege cheese, yum yum. Oh ya did I say mash potatoes?
I am so glad I did this but was not aware of how hard it would be.
looking forward to month 2 they say it gets better

Thanks so much for all the advice. It does seem with everything that it is quite individualized as to what each person can handle. I'm just trying not to push too far, though I realize my body will let me know if I can't handle it. I know I have lots of time to find my happy medium.
