Talking Toony's Time: 6 weeks out

I had my 6-wk post-op appt today... I'm "STELLAR" according to my surgeon.
  • I can take pills now (yay)
  • I can eat solids now - focusing on protein, of course (I'll have to go slowly as Thumbelina is not liking to work too hard)
  • My daily protein should be between 60 and 73 grams (at 2 wks it was 75-90!)
  • I can stop taking Folic Acid and extra Vitamin D... lab tests show I don't need them
  • I've lost 20% of my excess weight (assuming my goal is 135 - ha!)
  • Adding protein and starting aqua classes netted a 5 pound loss in a week!
Next check up will be at 3 months (early May) with full blown lab work...

I'm on my way... and this ride downhill is AWESOME!

Talking Yee Haw!

Isn't this ride exhilarating!!! You have to live it to really experience the thrill! So glad you're doing great...isn't is nice to be able to SWALLOW pills?? In the mornings I feel as if I've had a "full meal" of pills...my pouch is full after them and the water. Geez, I think I need to start the aqua classes...I'd like to lose 5 pounds in a week too!!

Keep up the amazing work/progress...we're so proud of you!

Cathy

Gosh Katie!

Can you believe it's been 6 weeks?!?!?!? It's unbelievable how long the wait was to get to your surgery, and now it's 6 weeks past--time flies when you're getting thin, huh?

I'm so proud of you and how far you've come in this short time.

We'll talk soon!

-Mike

Default Happy for you.

Ciao Bella Katie,
What great news to get at your post op check. That would really be motivating and I am excited for you to start your acqua exercise classes, I hope that I will also begin my acqua rehab next week for the hip. I am exercising now everyday with the exercises from the physical therapists and also incorporated my own toning routine.
I have seen about 7 more lbs come off over the last couple weeks, it is great to be almost completely to my and the Dr.'s goal weight wise.
Look forward to hearing about your exercises in the water, I'll be thinking about you there in the pool, while I am here in the pool.
All the best.

Great job, Katie! Waddya mean 135 - ha! You'll get there. If I did it, you will do it. I'm thinner than I have been ever in my adult life, and I'm not having a problem with eating now, and maintaining. (It does take focus and will!).

You will get there! for sure!!!

Picture perfect as always I am glad your doc agree with our opinion of you - that you are stellar!! Way to go girlfriend!

Oh..when I was originally talking with my PCP about surgery we were talking about goals. I laughed and said I wanted to be 130-135, but that realistically 150 was where I would end up at. He disagreed and said I would be able to exceed that, he was sure. Well, before I left Cali, I saw him for one final check up. He reminded me of our conversation, smiled, and said, "I normally don't say this, BUT I TOLD YOU SO!" Like Claire - I am happily at about 130

I'm glad to hear that everything is going well. You'll be at 135 in no time.
