Hi Deborah! Don't be discouraged. The tool works, it just take a while on some people. We all lose differently, maybe you aren't losing pounds and instead inches so don't forget to keep track of that. So I went back to my old blog and figured out where I was at about 3 months. I went from 315 (day of surgery) to 266 which is a grand total lost of 49 pounds. Almost like you...so hang in there, you are doing great.

Hi Deb,

I was at the same starting weight as you, and generally lost 10-12/month the whole way through. You're doing great...don't be discouraged. I was somewhat discouraged as well, but be patient...the results are there, and will continue to pile up. You're certainly not doing anything wrong...some people will lose more initially, and then slow down sooner than you will. Everyone is different, but unless your surgeon shows concern (which I'm willing to be he isn't), feel confident that you are doing awesome

Deb...

Don't be discouraged! You're doing GREAT! Those folks that are heavier seem to lose a little faster at the beginning...but even after my weight loss, I'm at your highest weight now, and the weight loss has SLOWED WAY DOWN! It seems like my current trend is a two week plateau followed by a 1-2 pound loss. This started over a month ago, and you know what--I'm still losing and that's the point. I know it's hard, but try to not to concentrate on the number--concentrate on everything else, and then the weight will surprise you!

Things to concentrate on:

Protein and Fluids
Exercise
Buying clothes you couldn't wear before
Buying clothes that don't cost an arm and a leg because you can buy them in a regular store.
Fitting in a booth at a restaurant
Having more energy
Resolving co-morbidities
Feeling Healthy
Being Alive!
Looking smoking hot!
Oh, and let's not forget, Chocolate Covered Cherry Jello! ( )

Hi Deborah

I am 5 and a half months out and have lost 59lbs. I have been stalling for past few weeks - but on average my loss has been around 11lb per month. My surgeon said that 10-11lb a month was the average loss expected with this procedure - so you are well above this. Forget comparisons, if you think about it 40lbs in just 3 months is really quite brilliant! Well done.

Deborah, I just checked back to my weight loss at 3 months. I was down 55 pounds from the day of surgery. So really you aren't that different from me. I know in general I averaged out to about 10-15 pounds a month.

Try not to let the numbers discourage you. Just make sure you keep following the rules. I promise you...you'll keep losing.

Deb---it's hard, isn't it! I'm only down 20 pounds in 5 weeks... I feel like it should be better too. Gotta look at the "big picture" and keep plugging along!!!

Dec - wow - when people say that to me I always ask the same question. When was the last time, in your whole dieting life, that you lost 4-5 pounds per week, and kept it off. Do you realize how great that you are doing?

Do not compare yourself, your pouch, your weight loss to anyone else's. We all have different metabolisms, eating habits, exercise habits, and are all going to lose weight differently. The goal is - over the long run, when we look at the scale in several months, is it lighter, and are we in smaller clothes.

See Mikes notes above - those are great. Find your own balance girl. You are doing great.

I will be three months on the 26th of March. To be honest I have not been weighed since my last appt at my doc which was Jan 26th. I prefer to focus on the fact that I have lost 4 pants sizes, I can now shop in the regular section, and how much better I feel and can get around sooo much better. OF course I'm curious on the number, but I think its better for me if I wait til my next appt. I don't see those stalls on the scale, and the number will be alot bigger after 2 months than one week. Hang in there, keep eating right, excersing, and enjoy the milestones that happen other than decreasing numbers.
