Since I had the VSG rather than the RNY, my "remnant" stomach most likely ended up in an incinerator at the hospital. It served me well for 42 years, despite my abuse of it, but I'm not mourning it...
With the VSG, approximately 75-90% (depending on the surgeon) of the stomach is completely removed, leaving a "sleeve" about the size of a ballpoint pen, with normal connections to the esophagus and small intestine (nothing is bypassed), normal digestive juice production, and no more gherelin production.
