Default Wiping your rear after surgery?

Ok, sorry...but I couldn't come up with a better title for the thread than that, lol.

I've read a few posts that hinted around at this, so please give me the whole truth. Is it true that I won't be able to wipe my own rear when I have a BM after the surgery?

If this is in fact true, how long does this 'condition' last for? I had a C-section before, and truly don't remember this humiliating problem...but granted, that was over 18 years ago.

I also saw this problem referred to, but it wasn't an issue for me. I'm a week out, so I figure I would know about it by now!

I did not have a bowel movement for almost a week after my surgery and by then, I was fine to handle my own affairs and I was far bigger than you! No worries, you'll be fine. =0)

The title to your thread cracked me up. Thanks for the giggle. Anyway, I think there may have been a couple of times it hurt my belly to "reach around" but I got the job done. I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you. Take care.

I didn't have any trouble doing this as well. Like someone else posted, I didn't go for probably 5 to 7 days. Good luck.

Oh I had issues. I was given something to move my bowls. I went 3 times in the hospital. Each time my side hurt to reach and my hands were both swollen and in pain from iv's. It took me forever to get wiped. I was a little embarrassed I didn't want to ask for help.

This was me also. But I know some people that did have problems with it but got creative. Like using a wooden spoon (with toilet paper wrapped around it). I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck I hope that you have no issues with this.

My wife had to assist me for the first week. Because of my surgery size, and some issues during surgery, my left side camera port left me quite sore and stiff. Bless my wife's heart for donning her latex gloves and taking care of business.

OMG!! This was me... I used a wooden spoon with baby wipes (smoother). My Sister said she would never let me cook anything in front of her again if I was going to use a wooden spoon. I swear, I put that sucker in the dish washer before using it again....JUST KIDDING!!
