Last night after dinner we were watchin tv and I mentioned this "problem" to my Dh and he laugh...he told ne that he loved me and would do whatever i needed him to do....I think he is more nervous about being with the boys for two to three days and getting them off to school, packing lunches, getting the oldest to practice, his game and doing homework more than he is about wiping my butt.....LOL....I am the one that ususally does all those things....LMAO

Oh, that's funny! He fears having to do the "mom" work that you probably do with both eyes closed and one hand behind your back!! Of course, I won't ask if that hand is holding a wooden spoon!

the belly does have a tough time with the reach around - I used flushable Huggies wipes (for Toddlers)

Worked like a charm.....

Well Gang, as a newbie waiting for surgical clearance, I gotta say this thread is way funnier than whatever's on tv right now! Thank you, one and all. I will pamper my wife so she might help me if necessary...but when I told her about this conversation, she said she'd help me with the toilet brush! OUCH! Seriously, I'll be sure to buy my own wooden spoon and flushable huggies...and thank the Lord my shower has one of those hoses....seems to have done the job before surgery, so it should be aok afterwards!

Again, you're all a riot!

I laughed and laughed at the image of your wife coming around from the left with the toilet bowl scrubber! All of my dermabond is popping off from laughing!

Another way 'around' the problem would be to go to a thrift store and pay like $.50 for a pair of tongs. Then you can get a 'grasp' on the problem. Toddler wipes sound like a good idea, too!

Hmmmm...I'm going to have to remember some of these new and creative ways of wiping up an ass. Toilet bowl brush? That one goes first at the top of the list. Thanks guys!! ...My patients are gonna LOVE me after reading this thread!!

Hmmmm.....this forum really is a wonderful asset when it comes to my nursing skills.

Oh come on...a nurse has to have some fun SOMETIMES!!

But actually Sherry, I didn't have any problem after surgery but it took me a good week before I had to have to deal with the issue at hand (or is that with my hand). :P

That was one of my questions in this forum before my surgery, and I was so worry I would not be able to do it after surgery, at my weight, it was already difficult enough before. It worried me all the way until after surgery and I got Diahrreah really bad, I was still at the hospital. It was not any harder then before surgery, I had just to take it easy when turning my body, just a bit slower, but it did not made me hurt anywhere, and none of the insitions got ripped or nothing,, not sure how it goes for open RNY's however.

At your weight, I would say it won't be any different after surgery, but it does help to get informed.
