Judy, basicly any time you are eating only like 250-300 calories a day you will probably be malnourshed. Your body can't survive on those kind of numbers too long it will go into starvation mode.
In what context did your doctor say that to you? Was he/she concerned? If it was in regards to a slow down in your weight loss or a stall it could be due to not getting enough nourishment. You go into starvation mode and your body panics and hangs on to every bit of nourishment it can...what happens is usually your weight loss slows or stops.
So how are you eating? Are you getting in your protein? If so how much?
Yes, it does get better but there is a HUGE learning curve for all of us. It takes awhile to get to know this new pouch of ours and what it will tolerate. Sometimes you do have to get brave and push it a little. Sometimes it backfires and you have to back off to the food you know is "safe"....it happens but then you back off for a few weeks and try again. It will come, just be patient with yourself and don't let that little pouch of yours scare you too much.
