Default buying new clothes - I haven't bought clothes in 3 years

I haven't bought any clothes in 3 years. I've lost 110+lbs since then (only about 30lbs since my surgery). Needless to say, the clothes I bought 3 years ago are now hanging on me - even at my still huge weight! And they are in need of replacement. They are just too old.

My problem is feeling so self conscious. I can't seem to find anything that won't make me feel like people are staring - I mean it's not every day you see an almost 500lb woman, right? I just don't know how to do this.

I have a long way to go I know. I am just feeling a little uneasy about all of it right now.

(((Hugs))) I understand feeling self-conscious. We've all been morbidly obese, so we all understand here. What you really need to do is just take another look at your numbers. I mean, losing over 100 pounds already -- WOW!! That is really something to be proud of. Especially because you did so much of it on your own pre-op! Please, take confidence in your progress so far. And don't buy anything expensive because before too long you will be down yet another 100+ pounds. I suggest second hand stores -- they get all types there, right? And when you do go, hold your head up super HIGH. You are really doing something to make your life better.

You go shopping!! You deserve it! You should be so proud of yourself. I'm proud of you! If someone treats you badly or looks at you unkindly just remember inside your head how far you have come and how much further you are going. Make faces at them.. whatever it takes. Just think you will probably never see them again and if you do they probably won't even recognize you because you will have lost so much more weight by then. It's their problem that they are rude not your's. They need to get over it. You deserve to enjoy yourself and you accomplishments!!! You go for it!!! I want to hear how it goes, give me a blow by blow and tell me what you get. HAVE FUN!!!!

I'm sure you've probably thought of this...but I shop on the internet...maybe toooo much. Internet shopping is one of the best inventions of recent history.

Congratulations on your progress....you are doing so great. You should be so proud of yourself.

And to heck with what everyone else thinks...honestly.

You go girl!!!!

Thank you all. I feel so much better about it now.

And shopping online - yes! They make it too easy for me! I think I will shop online this time - but next time I go in person.

Thank you again :-)
