Exclamation Plateaus!!!!

Hi there Peeps

I am experiencing an agonising 3 week plateau in my weightloss journey and, although I've read everything I could find about it on the Forum, it was only when I read Jim's updated blog that it all made sense to me.

For anybody experiencing a plateau or fearing the dreaded plateau this should be compulsory reading:

Plateaus - Oh! The Beauty and Granduer - part of James Ranes (Omaha Jim)'s Life Exhibited blog

Thanks HuggyBear!!!

Remember Peeps - keep your eye on the goal

I don't have any advice to offer but I will say that I had 3 week plateaus my whole first year of weightloss. Every 3rd week nothing at first I was horribly discouraged but I continued to lose at a very steady rate and by my one year surgiversary I had lost a total of 130 lbs.

I have been on a plateau for about 2 weeks now. I can say that I have not exercised as much as I should be and I think that contributes to my stall. I joined a gym yesterday and I hope to see that scale move soon.

Gwen, plateaus most certainly play with your mind. I was lucky that I consistently lost every week for the first 9 months but once I hit 9 months I had the mother of plateaus. It went on for 6 weeks. Talk about getting discouraged!! I was right outside of onederland too. What I did was increase my calories a bit and up my protein. I sat down with the nutritionist and discussed what I was eating...all seemed ok in that area so I decided I needed to change things up a bit. My nutritionist encouraged me not to worry. She explained that plateaus usually lasted 4-6 weeks....yep...6 weeks to the day my weight dropped like crazy. I lost like 10 pounds in 2 weeks. So hang in there sweetie. It's hard but it is something we all go through.

Hi Gwen

I had a 4 month plateau last year and it really got me down. I spoke to Shaw about it and he explained that it was my body's way of readjusting itself to the huge weight loss I had already experienced.
