Womanly question
Hi all,
I've been lurking for some time now and have decided to finally post.
I have a question for all female post-ops out there.
How far out were you when you finally had your unwanted "VISITOR"?
(aka Auntie Flo.)
I'm about 10 1/2 months since WLS and haven't heard from her since before then.
Please respond as it is kind of nerve racking at this point.

I got mine 5 days after surgery and have been regular ever since. I know your hormones freak out after surgery and during the weightloss. I'd check w/ your doctor just to be safe

I was on my period when I had surgery...Guess I was lucky I had it again like clock work and will be having it again at the end of this month. I would be worried if I were you. Are you married or have a huh nice way to put it love intrest in your life. Your not pregnat are you??? I am giving a little too much info here but my self I have not had sex with my hubby since I had surgery and it has been lets see going on 7 weeks because I am scared of getting pregnat I had to stop my pill not only that I was in a lot of pain even a month out had a lot of problems. I cant wait til my next one so I can go back on the pill. I would go see my OGBYN if I were you and make sure there are no problems and to make sure I was not going to have a baby. Good Luck hope I did not get to personal some people tell me TOO MUCH INFO!!!!.....LOL

Hormones and Periods
I agree with the other ladies, my period has been as regular as it was before surgery. (I'm kinda perimenopausal, so I've been a little irregular--but it certainly hasn't stopped.) I have read that estrogen is stored in our fat cells and is released as we lose weight. Therefore, most commonly, the increased hormone levels can make our periods regular or more frequent. A lot of women who previously stopped having periods because of morbid obesity start having them again.
I don't want to scare you unnecessarily, but...
If you're sexually active and there is a chance you might be pregnant, you may want to do a pregnancy test just to make sure.
I hope this helps you. Good luck!

Oh lord, MysticGirl, I just realized that you're 59 and you're still having periods! I have to confess...that's totally depressing to me. I'm 48 and, every month, I pray that I go into menopause and never have another one. I'm soooooooooo totally sick of it. I can't even tell you how sick I am of 35 years of torture. I have had horrible cramps every month since I was 13 (except, of course, the nine months I was pregnant with my daughter). I honestly begged my PCP to let me have a hysterectomy. She just laughed and said, "Oh, you silly. You know that cramps are not a medical necessity for surgery." ARRGGHHHHHHH
Can I ask you...how are you dealing with it?

Mine has always been pretty regular. The only difference I noticed was that after surgery, my cramps and bleeding were a bit heavier. I only waited for about 2 1/2 -3 weeks after surgery before having sex. Granted, I was still sore and things had to be a little more delicate, but even dropping the first 20 lbs. or so made a HUGE difference...and it only gets better! My husband had WLS 5 1/2 months ago, and I can tell you that we're like two teenagers in heat! Our kids think we're disgusting (they're teenagers), but we have 12 years to make up for! I never noticed how much of an effort it was to have sex when I was fat. Check with your doctor to make sure you have no other health problems, but I'm guessing, like the others have said, that it's more than likely hormonal.

Mine is normal it was normal before WLS and it's normal now. I got mine right on schedule. It's like clock work. If I'm ever late I would be VERY scared!
