You thought this was a piece of cake ??? LOL...funny girl!
I had trouble with this early out, and sometimes it felt like things were stuck, other times not.....one bite really does make a difference.
THE ONLY thing that worked for me was keeping to a portion size....ie: 1/2 cup of food at a time...or 1/4 cup depending on the stage.
2 years out, I still do the same thing...I pack my lunches in containers that are 1-2 cups in size...I always eyeball the portion size in a restaurant, divide my plate up and when my portion is done, I am done. So far this has worked for me....of course if at anytime I feel pressure, ill feeling, I stop eating. Speed of eating has A LOT to do with it. One bite, wait 2 minutes, if all ok, then about a bite every minute...good thing you are not eating too much or you would be there all day!

Thanks all... I lasted 34 minutes at work today - having visited the Ladies' Room 4 times in 34 min! I think my eating adventures of the past two days (since my post-op appt) have come back to haunt me. I'm back to UNjury infused puddings and sf popsicles for awhile...
And SLEEP! Yesterday was my first 1/2 day back to work... from there I had a haircut, then took the DH in for his infusion... too much running and activity for one day, I think. I'm pooped... (sic)!
Thanks for the advise... Taking it easy here...

I get the hiccups too and have noticed that if I eat anymore I will be in pain.

the first bite or drink of something still hurts when it hits my pouch and I've learned that doing it standing helps A LOT. I over-stuffed once already by eating 5 shrimp and walking around a bit helped to move it along I think.

Standing up and walkiing around when you are uncomfortable is a VERY effective thing to do. You're doing great, September!!

How to tell
Hiccups? Interesting. I have not had those since before surgery. So that either means I am not approaching "too much intake" or that indicator does not work with my pouch. Obviously you all are on Pouch Version 1.06. If you had paid the new subscription fee that came at 6 months out you would have been able to upgrade to version 2.0. Version 2.0 comes with many additional features, or at least that was what the paperwork said. I can assure you that I am surely having a more comfortable ride, and 4 out of 5 doctors choose it. HAHA!
So how do I know I am full.. Well first, I REALLY do not like to push it. As many of you know, we have this internal conversation with "Mr. Pouch". I take my first bite of food , and I feel it finally reach the pouch after chewing chewing chewing. The moment it lands in the pouch, I get the "It landed message" from the pouch. It is not painful, it is just a "HEY MISTER! You better chew that up really good. This is version 2.0, and your stomach is not connected anymore.. Just a friendly reminder!" Now there is an advantage of Pouch 2.0. But in all seriousness, I can tell when I am approaching too much, and just stop. I think I have dumped maybe twice, for sure once. I know what I can and can not eat, and honestly.. I eat what I should and after that... who could eat more anyway?
My pouch has a LOVE AFFAIR currently with grapes and cheese. Wonderful. I eat like 5-8 of each. Additionally, my pouch loves Hummus, and any kind of cheese. Some meats, but NOTHING chewy, and I mean NOTHING! I have no problems with deli meats, but again chew chew chew..
Above all things my body wants Cooked Brocolli. It is like the food of the Gods right now. Not sure why, it just is. I have also eaten other veggies and they have gone down fine. I find myself hungry for soup. But not that thick nasty stew type broth. I prefer a thinner brothy soup.
Let's see... what else? Oh Hot Tea.. YUM!
Well, my pouch and I have to get some water and prepare for a protien bar lunch.. Which I love by the way.
All my best to all of you!
Jeff

I used to get hiccups when full but now I get these LOUD gurggle sounds from my pouch....very embarrassing so I try to outguess my pouch and determine when I'm full before it announces my fullness to the world.
If I eat too much or too fast I get very uncomfortable and must move around to make it stop.
Katie, I didn't know at first when I was full either. It took at least 4 months before I knew. Hang in there! You're doing well!

Yep - hiccups, maybe a little pain or "stuck" feeling (you'll know it when you feel it if you haven't already). Funny...my nose also starts to run
