When I first had the surgery, I was warned to stay away from things with seeds, so tomatoes were not on the list of "approved" foods. But I eat them now (and have been eating them for several months) without issue, I am 8 months out.

On my list of liquids to drink right after surgery I had V-8 as what I could have, along with juices and water.

I ate tomato sauce about 4 weeks after surgery and have eaten quite a bit since then with no problems. I would think it would vary from person to person, but if you try and don't feel good, wait a few weeks and try again.

Spaghetti sauce with ricotta cheese was one of my first foods when I came off the liquid diet. I lived on it.
Nothing was ever said to me about tomatoes in particular.

I would be in big, big trouble if I had to stay away from tomatoes. I eat chili several times a week, not to mention tomato sauce.
Never had any issues with tomatoes, and they are really good for you too.

Me as well. I just made a big pot of the Top Secret Recipes Wendy's chili and after my family had their meal, enough left over for me to eat for several days. Great recipe, reminds of how Wendy's chili used to taste years ago, before it was watered down and the heat was taken out. Although, for those wanting to make this, they call for 3 tablespoons of chili powder. I'd say one is mild, two is medium heat, and three is hot.
