Default Stopped Losing

I have stopped losing weight! I think I look really good (except all the extra skin) but the BMI still says I am overweight. Has anyone else gotten close to goal, stopped losing, and still been considered overweight by the BMI? How do you feel about yourself in this situation. Part of me feels like I have failed in someway.

Thumbs up AWWWWWW Janet!

REALLY? You've lost all this weight and you consider that a failure. I call you a success and inspiration! That's how I see it!

My God woman! What do you want? You have lost almost 200 pounds. Consider how much your pannus weighs, subtract that, is that overweight to you? Is your body frame showing overweight? I bet if you look close enough you will see you are truly skin and bones with a little more skin than bones.

You have done amazing, pat yourself on the back, and enjoy your great success. This morning I weighed in at 124 pounds. Dr. Callery had a goal of 119. My weight was all stomach and my pannus is large, and if I could weigh it, I would guess prob 20 and at least 15, if it was cut off, how much would I weigh? About 109 pounds, thats a perfect size for me, if I just didn't have this thing called "my pannus".

Hugs,

Traci

Thank you, it is not that I feel bad about the weight I lost, I love it. I have never been this low in weight since I was 5! I just keep looking at the dang BMI number and wondering why I am still considered overweight. Maybe after some skin removal it will be better, but I have heard people do not lose weight with the skin coming off.

Thank for the encouragement.

Shove the numbers! It's about how you feel and what you can now accomplish without all that weight dragging you down. Numbers are just guesses and averages. The BMI doesn't take into account bone density, muscle mass, or body type.

I've been wondering the same thing. I've been at the same weight (181) for about a month now. People tell me that I look like I've lost more, but I just can't get that damn scale to budge. I look at other people's weight and I feel that 181 is still too big. I just bought my first pair of size 8 jeans (yeah, they're snug, but I got into them). I'm about 5'8" and fairly large frame. I know I probably have about 10 lbs. of skin, but grrrrrrrrrrrr, I'd love to see 140 or less. I'm beginning to be obsessed with losing more. Any words of wisdom?????

Hey Tabitha,

Size 8 at 5'8"? Awesome! I'm 5'8" at 154 and still a size 10... sometimes 12. I'm having the same problem with obsessing about 135. I'm beginning to learn to ignore the scale!!!!
