Thumbs up I made it through OK

Well...I made it through with no complications. I came home Tuesday morning and I've been feeling ok. I've had a few uncomfortable moments but it is major surgery, so I'm not really complaining. It's no worse than when I had my children. It kind of feels like I did a thousand stomach crunches. I haven't been able to get anything down but small sips of water, jello and broth. I'm not hungry but I definitely have a really weird sort of empty feeling in my gut. The total worst part of the whole procedure is the gas in your abdomen afterward. Getting it out is hard and it can make you miserable if you let it. But the more I walk around the better I feel. I'm still a little swollen from all the fluid they pump into you by IV. The Dr. says that will disapate slowly. The most important thing is I'm OK and I'm home getting better everyday.

I'll keep you updated.

I am glad you did good. That I think it's my biggest fear, is the complication part.

About the gas, I remember having my tubes tied, how awfull I felt for weeks after, no one told me I needed to walk to help it out of my system, and I hear a heating pad helps too, I think I will get me a heating blanket lol.

Best of luck, take it easy and stay focus

Glad to hear you are doing so well. It's pretty difficult in the beginning, but it does get easier.

I had my surgery on the same day that you did and I had the same issues with discomfort and gas pain. i finally did a couple of laps today at the mall and got some dispitation going. I am just able to start feeling better, but after much walking.

Good luck with your journey, we should stay in contact since we had surgery on the same day and will go through most things at the same times...

Take Care!

Kyhara - welcome to the losers bench. As for gas, Gas-X strips work wonders. You just put it on your tongue and let it dissolve and then a few hours later, it starts to release. It's funny that you can feel it working it's way through your system. With the strips, after 12 hours, I felt great. All the gas cramping was gone.

I just had my surgery Monday and I have had extreme discomfort from the gas. Is it okay to have Gas X this early?
