Question Pain with Cymbalta?

I did a search and didn't see anybody who seemed to have this problem. I can take all of my medication throughout the day just fine. After surgery, my Cymbalta made me a little nauseous, no big deal. Then it made my stomach hurt, so I laid on my left side and it would get better. It increased in pain so I started taking a couple of Tums with it, thinking I just needed to burp or something. Now when I take it, I double over in pain and have to run to the bathroom to dry heave, the pill itself never comes back up though. The pain kicks in about 10-15 minutes after I take it.

I know, I know, ask your doctor. I did, he said to tell my GP. Before I do that, and the reason I hesitate is that Cymbalta has been FABULOUS for me and I cringe at the thought of being off of it, I wanted to check with y'all.

Has anyone had this happen with Cymbalta or any similar drug? And what do you think may be causing it? It's definitely not aspirin or Ibuprofen, so I'm stumped.

Wish I could help you out! I myself dread being off my anti-depressants, I haven't taken one in the 2 weeks since my surgery. I was taking Wellbutrin XL but will have to "experiment" AGAIN once I am cleared for pills. Hope you figure out whats going on and that you can avoid having to stop taking it!

Good luck,
Lins

Default Cymbalta-ick

I took one dose and thought I was gonna die. I couldn't stomach it. I was so sick, I thought I would end up in the hospital.

I hope they can find an alternative for you.

my cymbalta is about the only medication out of my regimine i can take. I dont notice any pain, but do soak it in my mouth with hot water till it starts to dissolve otherwise, yeaouch... yep that does hurt if i dont partially dissolve first.

Who, th is frightens me. If it makes you sick, it is not a good thing. Your body is giving you an important symptom - pain and nausea.

I would ask the doctor (a pharmacist frequently knows more, can offer suggestions, and you can suggest it to your doctor) asap for a replacement med.

The one thing I DON'T like about RNY is the difficulties with meds. I have had my own issues as well.

Best regards,
