Default Insision Care????

I had my surgery on 2-22-05 I went back to see my surgeron on monday. My insion is wide open at the bottom. HE just said to put gauze on it and keep my binder on. Well this is what I have been doing from the get go. Well this morning when I went to change the gauze the opening is even bigger and it seems to me like I am going to end up with a nice closed scar on top then a nasty hole of a scar when the bottom decides to heal if it ever does. My questions are this. Has any one else had this problem? What did your Doc do about it? Can I put Neosporin on it? Please help I am scared and my doc keeps telling me not to worrry but it just looks so bad and it is still hurting me.

Thumbs up Incision

I had to have my incision opened in two areas after surgery due to leaking fluids and stuff..

After packing it for a while they put steri-strips over it and it started closing faster. Is this something your Dr. will allow? If so you can buy them over the counter at any drug store. I got mine from the Dr.'s office since they closed them initially.. I had to change them a few times but it was well worth it. I now have a keloid area that I am going to see if they can fix with my TT that I'm having on April 25th!!

I, too, had a small area that was opened because of fluid build-up. I had to pack it with guaze for a couple of weeks, and then it closed right back up into the original scar. I wouldn't sweat it too much, just keep an eye out for any sign of infection. I wouldn't do the Neosporin either. Just keep it clean.

WLS incision healed fine, but one of my c-sections healed funky. It seemed to take forever, but in time it healed and scarred pretty much the same as the rest of it.

Well I got tired of it I came home from my daughters 10th birthday party and my insision was hurting and when I looked it was bleeding. So I took some tape and pulled it closed and taped it shut. Two days later and it is working it is closing up and starting to heal. I told my darn surgeon it needed to be fixed he did not listen so I am fixing it my way Wish I had done it sooner it would have been healed by now. I went back to work yesterday and I was SOOOO tired when I got home. I tried to take a nap but the never happened the phone started ringing off the hook then the dog startd barking. OH well Today was not to bad at work not as tired today. I lost 3 lbs in one day just by going back to work I thought that was pretty neat.
