Default 3 days post-op, diet questions

Hey everyone! I am 3 days post-op and am feeling ok... The pains in my stomach are confusing! Are they hungry pains, full pains, or just pain!? Occasionally I get a pain in my chest that feels like a hiccup but it doesn't come out! It is quite painful... Ladies, how soon after surgery did you wear a bra?
Also, the hospital moved me off clear liquids after 24 hours, isn't that too soon? So I'm on full liquids and am having a hard time figuring out what fits into this category, does anyone have suggestions? My mom gave me eggs this morning but she just mashed them and added milk... they still weren't "pourable."

Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm so confused!

Lins

no eggs... yet.. this is liquid phase.
The following list is what was on my list of things to eat from 1 to 3 weeks.
I also went home from the hosp. at full liquid stage.

full liquid phase:
broth
jello (sugar free)
protien drinks (ensure, boost, slimfast are too high in sugar and low in protien)
pudding (sugar free)
caffine free tea... I tried the mint tea and it helps sooth the new pouch
cream of wheat
cream of rice
malto meal
grits
bouillon
cream soups (cream of chicken, mushroom, patatoe, Cream of squash)
low sugar or sugar free cafeine free and carbonation free liquids
water or water with lemon
decaf. coffee
decaf tea
light juice
propel, diet koolaid, aloe ver splash, diet tang, light hawaiian punch, crystal light, ect..
diluted regular juice or gatorade (1/2 cup with 1/2 cup water)
no sugar added cocoa, no sugar apple cider
sugar free apple cider
skim or 1% milk
meal replacement drink
sugar free popsicles
apple sause (for meds)

cream of tomato (too acidic), no noodles, pasta or rice for 3 first weeks

fluids at rate of 1 cup in 30 min.
no drinking 30 min. before or after meal
no gulping, no straws

Remember you pouch can only hold about 4 oz of anything at a time. sip slow and use a small spoon... If your pouch hurts while eating.. your probably full. I get that hickup feeling too.. Slow down and stop if you feel the pressure before the pain. Also remember that you have a habit of reaching for food, your not hungry... it's head hunger.

64 oz... of fluids a day, this includes all the liquids meals.

Hang in there! your doing fine...

Lins,

My liquid diet was pretty much the same as Janine's. Eggs weren't on the sheet at the liquid stage - they were on the next one.

Didn't your doc give you a diet sheet to follow?

Anyway - I had something similar to your painful hiccup that doesn't come out. The doc said if was something to do with a nerve - it was quite common and it should disappear, which it did at about 4 weeks. It was pretty alarming though - I found myself making a horrible noise when it happened cause I had no control over it!

As to the bra - I wore a sleep bra afterwards. I didn't think I could wear anything because of the lap. scars (I had 8) and the drain I had for 3 weeks but I got my husband to help me fasten it and it felt very comfortable. Try one on.

thanks everyone! i didn't get a very good diet sheet post-op (one of a few complaints...) so this forum is very helpful! i think i will have to wait on the bra because it will be hard for me to find a sleeper bra in my size (DDD!). im glad im not the only one getting that hiccup feeling, good to know it should eventually go away. thanks again
