Default Don't like any foods

Ok...I'm having an interesting thing happening. Immediately post-op my tastes appeared to be the same as pre-op--of course I was on liquids for a month so how would I really know. Now that I have been on soft foods for 2 weeks I don't like anything at all. Nothing tastes like it used to. I expected my tastes to change but I didn't expect this.

It's funny because every time my kids get french fries I always have just ONE of them to remind myself how horrible they taste now! I was the french fry monster before surgery! LOL They now taste like vile cardboard. Everything changed for me Jeri. WIth the exception of some sweets, I do not care for any of the processed horrible foods I used to. I just can't stand to chew them til they are mush. It has to be a more pure, healthy food before it's worth eating.

Things that I liked pre op, I still do, but there are things I hated pre op, and love now...like veggies and fruit. Things change and change is good.

For several months, nothing tasted good to me. Things that I LOVED pre-op disgusted me. Over time (I'll be one year out next week), that changed. Now, unfortunately, I can pretty much eat anything but eggs. One of the first things that made me sick were scrambled eggs and I haven't been able to eat them since. I gag whenever I even see them. When I'm having pissy pouch days, the only thing I can eat is sushi. It's just one of those things! You have to learn what your pouch is telling you. My nut said that it was the pouch telling me what I could and couldn't eat and had nothing to do with my tastebuds even though it felt like it was the tastebuds. I just had to keep experimenting. Good luck to ya! You are doing great!

I definately think it is a good thing. I'm just amazed at the changes this surgery has made--like no appetite still and this taste thing. I still have the head thing to work on with food but LOVE that physically there is no way I could eat even close to the way I could before surgery.
