Cold, flu, bleh. . .
Hey guys,
Today is my 1-monthaversary and I decided to celebrate by getting a cold . . . definitely not a yayism. In my Pre- GBS days, I would have taken some airborne, or alka-seltzer plus cold, but we're in a no fizz zone post op, right? I was wondering what do you guys use to help you get through cold/flu symptoms? I thought about using nyquil/dayquil, but I'm concerned about the alcohol/sugar content. Help!
Chia~

I'm sorry. Colds are miserable. You can take any of the tylenol cold/flu products according to my surgeon. They work pretty good.
Feel better soon.

If it were me I would call my docs office and ask what they suggest. I'm a little over 5 weeks post-op and was just thinking about that yesterday. I hope you feel better soon! Thats gotta feel yucky!

As early out as you are, I would definitely call the doc. I know the Tylenol products are okay but if they don't work for you, the doc would be the best place to get more info. I took Nyquil two months post-op and it knocked me out for 12 hours! I'd probably take it now, but I'll be 1 year out in 9 days. It'll still knock me out, but with Nyquil that's the point!

I think the bigger issue with Alka-Seltzer is that some contains aspirin. Got to read every label carefully now.
Robitussin has worked well for a couple of my friends.
This made for some interesting reading http://www.obesityaction.org/resourc...ealthqanda.php
They suggest the following for colds:
Benadryl
Dimetapp
Robitussin
Sudafed
Triaminic
Tylenol Cold Products

Thanks guys, it turned into a cold with a side order of laryngitis. I'll be making a doctor's appointment tomorrow

As far as Nyquil goes....the liqui-caps are what I use. No alcohol and they don't need a chaser.

124 total pounds gone forever!
Reached my new goal of 130...and I think I want to stop losing now. "Stop losing now".Wow, I never thought I'd ever say that!
Looks like Donna is right though. My body doesn't seem to be done...

Official word from the Doc
I have an upper respiratory infection, ear infection, and laryngitis. I got a prescription for some antibiotics for the ear infection, but the other stuff's viral so I just get to wait the rest of it out. Thanks for all the help!
