The numbers may be stalled, but I bet you're losing inches. Are your clothes fitting looser? That was my biggest motivation during plateaus.

As far as the scale goes, many say to only weigh once per week. I would drive myself crazy if I only weighed once per week! I fluctuate a few pounds every morning and if I weighed say on Thursday morning and weighed the next Thursday morning and was one or two pounds higher, I would be extremely frustrated. Instead, I weigh myself every day. I might fluctuate a few pounds but I know when I hit my lows and when I hit my highs. I don't let a 3 lb. gain bother me because I know the next day it'll probably be back down. If I only weighed once a week, that would be torture to me!

You're doing great so far! Keep up the good work!

I agree with you here. While I seem to be plateaued in my third week, I do notice my clothes are fitting looser, and I can reach areas of my body I couldn't reach before (sorry if that gives you all a bad visual ). I'll just chalk it up to redistribution.

In the grand scheme of things, I'm putting 5-6lbs of fluid in my body everyday. I know I'm not "expelling" that much, so my intake is on the plus side right now. But I think it's more important to keep my organ functions on even keel, than lose too much weight, too fast.

Default Just what I needed...

I am so thankful for this site. Ive gone from freaking out about not getting my protein in to now realizing that since Nov. 9th my first follow up and loosing 35 lbs, well, I have lost nothing more and I keep getting on the scale (once a week) and it is not moving. Im so frustrated because where I work there are a few of us who just had the surgery. One girl who was my size had her surgery about 9 weeks before me, she has already went down to size 4 from a 28. Me, i have dropped one size, and every day people come by my desk to inspect me and ask "so how much now" UhM same answer 35lbs. Im so frustrated with it all I want to cry! My husband sees me upset and he is upset, and I dont want to pester the doctors office. Thanks guys, hopefully i will see some movement on the scale again soon.

You really cannot compare the speed of weight loss with another. It is so different. Every loses at different speeds. Bodies react different to large weight losses in short amount of time. Some people plateau some don't. You are doing fine. You may want ot eat more frequently though, only 3 meals a day is not enough. You should be eating 5-6 times a day. I think a lot of people get stressed when they hear someone losing more weight than they are and think something is wrong. It's not. It's a totally different process for everyone. Weight loss will be faster in the first 3 months, then slow down a bit, then really slow down after 6 months. It doesn't necessarily stop, but weight loss does slow down. My WLS support group brought our clothes from our pre-op photos and tried them on at our last meeting. What a hoot! When anyone is feeling down or the weight loss has slowed or temporarily stalled, or you are just kinda feeling fat, try on your old clothes. What an eye opener and a boost! I literally had to hold up my pants. I went from a size 28 to a size 4. It really made me feel good. Give it a try. Sue

Thank for the support everybody. I'm not sure if everything is going as fast as it should but I'm 6 weeks out today and I'm down about 46lbs. Average of about 8lbs a week.

The first two weeks I dropped about 22 lbs and since then have dropped about another 24 lbs. So about 5/6 lbs per week after the two weeks.

I'm pretty happy with what's happening right now and I definitely agree about the old clothes. I mean I got so much more to go and some of my clothes are HUUUUUGE.

Another big motivator is to try on something you really liked wearing before but "grew" out of, it's pushes you more and more to go do that 1/2 hour walk to get to that level again.
