Default I'm home!

Actually, I came home yesterday, but was too tired to post.

Everything went well and I feel really good. Struggling to get all my protein in, but I think that's probably normal at first??

I just really want to make sure I stay hydrated. Surgeon scared me a little about getting dehydrated.

Thanks all for the tips on the Gas-X strips - wouldn't be feeling this good without them! They are the bomb!

Any tips you guys can give for this first week would be greatly appreciated.

Kerry - at your stage, I'd just focus on getting your fluid down you. I'm glad your doc. laboured the point on dehydration. Although I never got to that point, I ended up with constipation ....... that was frightening, not to mention VERY painful.

My surgeon told me to focus on keeping up with the liquids - the rest will follow.

Have you tried the protein vials? They're a bit of an acquired taste but early out, I'd add half a vial and add it to my water - that gave me 21g of protein.

Default welcome home

I'm a ND stapler, too. I had Dr. Monson on Monday. I haven't been able to get in all of the protein either, so called the dietician and she wasn't overly concerned...just said to do the best I could this week. Does Dr. Garcia have you on that horrible tre puree stuff? I simply cannot eat it...so am eating pudding instead. Congratuations on your surgery and I'm happy that you're feeling well.

Default Hey Cindy!

I was trying to figure out where you were in the hospital, but was kind of out of it.

Yes, on the puree, but I actually like it (except the carrots - they are gross). Haven't been able to do any protein shakes - they taste really bad to me now. I've been getting in milk, yogurt, the puree, cottage cheese and isopure.

Did you get the milk flavored with sugar-free coffee syrup in the hospital? I thought it was fantastic. I'm trying to figure out what the ratio of milk to syrup is.

I think we are really lucky to be in this program here, because it sounds like a lot (like everyone else) is restricted to clear fluids or full fluids only at first. I really do feel better when I get to eat something more substantial.

I hope everything is going well for you?? I'm very pleased.
