Default questions for all

Hi My Name Is Anna And I Got Home From The Hospital On Friday, It Has Been Harder Than I Had Thought But I Know I Will Get Through It!!!!!!!! I Went Lap And Had No Complications So Far So I Am Very Greatful. I Just Had A Few Questions And Some Of Them May Sound Silly But I Dont Know Who To Turn To For Answers.i Was Wandering If I Was Allowed To Sleep On My Stomach, What Are Some Good Proyein Shakes To Drink(can I Drink A Whole One), When Did Some Of You Begin To Feel Normal Again ,i Mean Not So Sore And When Can You Start Eating Like Non Fat Yogurt And Things Like That? Any Words Will Be Of Great Help, It All Happened So Fast And Although My Family Has Been Amazing I Cannot Help But To Feel Alone Sometimes.

Thank You All,
Anna

Anna,

There are NO silly questions. Congrats gal and welcome to the other side!

Sleeping, took me about 4 days to be able to sleep on my side, tummy was about 3 weeks after surgery.

Protein drinks.......Yuck, someone else can help you with those.

Yogurt - when you go to soft foods you can try yogurt.

Any more questions?

Default Welcome home

I slept on my side for a couple of days, then on my stomach.Just depends on your comfort and pain level... having gone lap (or open even) you can sleep on your tummy whenever you can tolerate it.

Protein shakes are trial and error, I had a hard time with the nasty little buggers, but I do like one. Its Adkins Advantage Protein Shake. I get it in Vanilla and mix it with Crystal Light for various tastes. So people swear by Isopure Waters, they have lots of protein, no sugar... I cant tolerate them. Just dony buy in bulk, you can buy single servngs at Boney's or if you buy some at GNC or COSTCO and you dont like them, they will refund your money.

Non fat yougurt and cream soups after 10-14 days....

No dumb questions sugar pea..... ask away! Welcome to the other side... its great over here huh?

Did you have your surgery with Dr. Callery or Dr. Potts? I see you are in my neck of the woods. If you ever want to go walking or anything let me know. We can get a North County Group together for walks. I know it is kind of early to really start you on a long distance walk, but keep this in mind for the future. Dr. C & Dr. P put you on soft foods after about a week. It is all trial and error. Sometimes you may tollerate something and the next time you won't.. etc. It is weird that way. Like Bridget said, if you buy Protien shakes make sure you get them at Costco or GNC as they WILL give you a refund with a receipt if you don't like them. The people at GNC really got to know me good in the beginning..

There are no silly questions, and you are never alone .. not with us. Just keep walking and doing what you are doing. The most important thing right now is for you to make sure you get your fluids in and some good walking time to prevent blood clots and dehydration.

Good luck to you my friend.. you'll do great!!

You can send me a private message and we can exchange numbers.. I'd love to get a walking group together with us North County Folks..

Thumbs up

I just had the open procedure two weeks ago and I don't feel 100% quite yet. I will say that I feel 100% better everyday. Well, 100% better than I did the day before. So you should start to feel a little more normal pretty soon. I have to say that I am in agreement with everyone on the don't stock up thing! I have 15 or so packages of jello that no one will ever eat! I never want to see jello again! I just got to start cream soups, sugar-free pudding, etc. today. I wish you the best of luck on your journey! Congratulations!!!!
