The weight Loss stopped?
Ok, I am 4 weeks post op today..the first 2 weeks I lost 30lb
(that a big WOW)
But why the last 2 weeks I either gain a pound or stay the same. I am doing what needs to be done...is this a common issue?

Yes, it is common to have stalls....but as long as you are doing the right things, the weight does come off. Trust me on that. Welcome to the losers bench. Have a good day!

Yep, totally common. I see a post like this pretty much weekly, so you aren't alone. You've had a huge weight loss and your body needs to re-group. What you want to do though is evaluate your protein and calorie intake. Are you getting in all of your protein? How many calories are you getting in? If you are low on those your body will think you are starving it and go into panic mode. It will cling to every ounce of fat it can because it thinks it will be it's only source of energy. Once you start eating more your body will heavy a sigh of relief knowing that the food is still there and that it will have what it needs to sustain itself and then you will see the weight start coming off again. So please don't worry. Just get off the darn scale for awhile and give it a couple of weeks. I only weighed myself every 2 weeks there for quite some time. It saved my sanity for sure.

What if just the smallest portions fill you up? Is it recommended to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks or 5 meals throughout the day? For example, I have a scrambled egg w/cheese for breakfast, a light & fit yogurt for snack,a serving of chili (homemade) w/cheese for lunch, an ounce of almonds for snack and then dinner was 2 oz of salmon w/broccoli. All this and I've stayed the same weight for about 2 weeks. I'm getting frustrated too! I feel like the honeymoon phase is wasting away.

I’m in the same boat as you Robin. It will be 4 weeks this Friday and I lost 36lbs in the first 2 weeks or so and NOTHING since. We just have to hang in there together. After all- as many have said- when else have we ever lost 30lbs in 2 weeks? Or even 4 weeks?

At your stage I was doing like 5-6 small "meals" a day. It sounds like you are getting in a fair amount of protein. How much protein are you getting? The recommendations now are no longer 60-80 grams they are more like 80-100 grams. Any idea how many calories you are getting in on an average? I don't remember exactly how far out you are but you should probably be getting in a min. of about 750 calories. Please don't panic about this "honeymoon" phase. Yes, your weight loss MAY slow down after the 6 month period but the truth is the active weight loss time is really the first 12-18 months. Mine slowed at about 10 months post-op but even with a 6 week plateau at that time I still lost about 45 more pounds in the next 6 months. You don't want to start grazing to get in the calories but if your meals are "planned" that isn't grazing...it really isn't. If you aren't getting in the calories maybe instead of the yogurt or almonds replace it with a fruit smoothie that has more calories and more protein. I don't do well with all of the protein powders but I can make a pretty good fruit smoothie with yogurt, milk, carnation inst. breakfast, some dry milk and some fruit. It has more protein and more calories than the yogurt or almonds. None of this is easy. You won't always be able to get in the amount of calories and protein. So don't beat yourself up for it. The numbers I've been giving are guidelines...something to strive for. The biggest thing about these stall outs...and yes, they are truly stalls, not plateaus is that we all go through them and that this isn't the end to your weight loss. It really isn't. I never dreamed I would lose 200 pounds in 18 months, but I did...and YES...I DID have the stalls and the plateaus, just like all of you.

I'm 8 weeks out today and down about 40 pounds (30 since surgery), that's kind of slow, but I'm just happy to be losing, just wish I wasn't stalled.
