Uuhhh... Chicken Salad anyone??
So I've eaten chicken salad several times.. never have a problem with it, always goes down great, digests easily... but today I tried chicken salad made by a different company. Tasted great, went down easy...came right back out the opposite end no more than 15 minutes later. LOL (I know that's kind of graphics..sorry! hehe)
Anyone else come across this?? Maybe it's the difference in mayo? Or some other seasoning? From what I know...I've always considered chicken salad to be chicken salad...but I guess not. I might try it one more time to make sure..although I definitely don't want the cramps and icky stuff one more time!!

The only Chicken Salad I've had was home-made, yummy...I only trust myself or another post-opper as far as food prep goes!

Sugar in salad
Be careful with the store bought stuff. I asked the local grocery here to let me see the lable on the Chicken Salad. I was surprised to sugar in it. Like friggin chicken salad needs sugar??? LOL
Either way, there are my 2 cents.

I make it at home, too, and have been successful with it. Here's what I do:
3 oz. boiled chicken, chopped up
1 tablespoon Hellman's Reduced Fat Mayo
1 hardboiled egg, chopped up
salt and pepper
28 grams of protein (though it takes me a couple of sittings to get through it, so this technically makes two small meals.)
You can add celery, apples, onions, anything extra you want to this, but for now, I'm still trying to get a handle on getting protein in, so that's all I've done.
It tastes pretty good to me. Also, I do tuna this way as well.
I tried to make just egg salad, but the egg by itself gagged me.

This has happened to me, and still does at 3+ years out, it's the prob the mayo. I can only eat the lite stuff and only a little bit of it at a time. Ask them next time if they can make it with lite some places will do that for you.

I get that when I eat something too high in fat. So my guess would be that it may have been the mayo. The only chicken salad I eat is what I make myself.

~sigh~ yea..that's kind of what i was afraid of.. cept that i HATE to cook, and having someone else do it is just so much better. LOL i can't remember the last time i actually bought raw chicken... actually, have i ever bought raw chicken? hmmm. hahaha
thanks for the recipes, guys.. i might have to make a special trip to the super target this weekend and try to make some myself.. i know i usually eat the fat free or lite miracle whip and do fine with that, so maybe it was the regular mayo...but i checked the nutrition info, and it seemed okay. i dunno.

You can buy pre-cooked chicken strips or even the canned chicken works. I've made chicken salad that way and it tastes fine. Not as chunky but it's good.

I'm sorry this happened and hope you figure it out. I'll keep this in mind after my surgery when I can eat again. They make a killer chicken salad at work. I'll have to find out what kind of mayo they use.
