My wife is done with the surgery, now time to move on.
My wife had her surgery on friday and aside from feeling tired she says that the 3 "C" sections caused more pain. She has been doing the fluid thing and walking alot. Now for my question. I read alot of people saying that this is causing them problems or that creates an issue, (and the worst... "pouchy is grumpy").
I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that has had a picture perfect recovery and life goes on without any complications? Including plastic surgery and food intake. I am just hoping the the wife has such a recovery. So far so good...

I had a good recovery and didn't need plastics. I won't say perfect, because I did need my gallbladder out last Feb. However, my surgeon did say that it was possible the gallbladder issue was hereditary and not surgery related. I didn't have many food issues, other than me being more adventurous than I should have. However, now that I'm pregnant, there are ALL kinds of food issues. Best of luck to your wife for a speedy recovery.

My journey wasn't 'perfect' but I was mowing our lawn 4 days after my lap RNY. I still have days where I have difficulties with some foods that were okay the previous week. I think the hardest thing to do is hold a conversation during a meal. I tend to chew too fast and not well enough, that's when I have the battle with my pouch. It's darn near impossible to multi-task while eating after surgery and not have problems.

My surgery was what I would call complication free, except I needed a drain for a day which was no biggy. I personally don't consider things like "dumping" or certain food intolerances a complication. They are part of this surgery. Some people will be tolerate some foods better than others and there will be some food that will sit great one day and not so well the next. I don't think there is anyone who will be able to say that they can eat the exact same things they ate before surgery after. Now I'm almost 2 years out and the kinds of food that I can eat is changing. I can now tolerate a little bread without it feeling like a brick in my pouch and I can do a few sweets within moderation.
I recently have had my plastic surgery and in general all is going well with that too. Sure there is pain, fatigue, muscle spasms...it goes along with the territory but none of those are really complications either.
I hope all goes well for your wife. I know as her husband that is what you want to see. I'm sure you don't like to see your wife struggle with complications, pain...you obviously love her but realize there may be days that she wishes she never did this surgery, days where she may break out in tears for no reason at all, days she will feel like throwing her food across the room because nothing tastes good and everything makes her pouch hurt. Those kinds of days go along with the territory and you just need to be ready for them when they come.
Glad to hear her surgery went well and that all is going well for her at home.

I had complications, but life is good now. I've been pain free and feeling great since January. I have no regrets. Life is good!

I had a good but tough recovery(I had open RnY), I have had NO problems and as far as plastic sugery I only need new boobies(working on that one right now). I dont need my face, arms, or tummy done. I feel Im one of the very few that only needs boobs. Food intake is normal as far as eating what I want, I even eat pasta. I eat pizza, just not to much bread(never really like it anyways). I eat steak, chicken, even eat In and out burger just protien style, no fries. I drink soda just diet. I dont do eggs or milk (but didnt before sugery anyways). right now at 2 days shy of 1 year Im sitting at losing 95lbs loss and I very happy with that. Hopefully she will have a good recovery and can get back to normal soon-

Lets see, I'll be 5 months out tomorow and I have to say I haven't had any real issues. Only problems I've had were because I was stupid and ate the wrong things and then . . .vroom, to the bathroom. Apart from that I'm 97 lbs down and only 6 lbs from goal.
Hope that helps a bit.
BTW, life got back to normal after about a month, cuz for that first month she's gonna be tired all the time.
