with all the postings on members who are having a hard time with meat. I was fine a week ago with small portions of meat at a meal. Now, every meat that I try makes me sick and causes pain and a close to dumping, nauseated feeling.

Peggy, you may want to call your doctor on Monday if you are still having trouble. Sometimes an ulcer can cause those kinds of problems. He/she may want to start you on something like prevacid to see if it helps. It also may just be a pissy pouch. I went through a time where I had the same problem with meat, it just made my pouch hurt. I backed off and went back to the soft food for a week or two and it helped. You may want to try that over the weekend and see if you feel any better.

Default my suggestion

I am 3 1/2 years out and every once in a while meat does not agree with me. I mostly stick with chicken. Somedays I am fine with a quality hamburger (meat only) and somedays I'm not. I would suggest you do protien shakes for a while - my doc had me on the Pro Complex, it's 55 grams of protien per shake, very low in carbs and sugars and I loved the chocolate shake. I did them with soy milk - yummy!!!!

good luck

We have to eat protein because it actually breaks down into amino acids which aid in the repair and building of muscles and the production of all the body's enzymes, including digestive enzymes. In other words, protein helps build muscle mass and helps you lose weight.

Anyone can correct me if I'm on the wrong trail here...

Default thanks...

that makes sense, but why so much.....??? and what's going to happen if we don't get the daily recommended dosage.....??? I ask this because I know that I'm not getting in as much protein as I should on a daily basis.

You will find that your weight loss will probably slow down, you will also lose muscle mass vs. fat which isn't really what you want. There are days that I don't get in my protein but it isn't a daily thing. You are still fairly early out so do the best that you can but the more protein you can get in the better off you will be.
