Having problems with protein supplements
I am having a big problem with protein supplements. I am lactose intolerent and can not drink the usual protein supplement. I've tried Isopure since it is supposed to be for people who are lactose intolerant and the sweetness of the drink makes me want to gag. I've tried soy protein in my soy milk and it upsets my stomach. Any suggestions on what might work because at this point I know I am not getting all of my protein.
Help!

Have you always been lactose intolerant? Or is this since the surgery? I've read that this sometimes happens, and is temporary...
Will be watching for other's advise on protein!

New Whey Vials
Is my best source of protein. Each vial contains 42 g of protein, I can't drink it straight, so I pour it into 24 oz of water and sip on it.
It tastes sort of like flavored water.
I order them online for about $32 for 12. Pricey, but I was really worried about getting all my protein in.

The only problem with the vials you mentioned is that they are whey. Whey comes from milk I'm really a difficult case.

can you try soy products & tofu?
You should probably call your doctor's office and see what they have to suggest...
best wishes!

Check Walgreen
Walgreens carries a protein drink in the can called Enterex, for diabetics, and it's soy-based instead of milk-based. I'm also extremely lactose intolerant in regard to milk/ice cream/yogurt.
I've never been able to deal with any of the protein supplements, both because of the milk thing and because every single one of them makes me gag. Some of the protein bars (Atkins Advantage and Breakfast bars) are survivable. I've done OK without ever drinking protein.

Have you TRIED the New Whey and/or Profect vials? Even though they're whey protein, they might work... I was extremely lactose intolerant for the first few months after surgery, but the vials went down fine for me. It was my MAJOR source of protein for the first 3 months after surgery...

Suggestion
I am pre-op, so I'm not speaking from experience here as far as post-op taste tolerances go, but have you tried diluting your Isopure Zero Carb with a significant amount of water and then sipping it throughout the day? For example, if you're using the 20 oz. ready-to-drink bottles, you could pour one bottle into a 64 oz. pitcher or bottle and then add 44 oz. of water. If you sip it throughout the day, you would get 64 oz. of clear fluid, 40 g protein, and a taste that you might be able to stand - not as sweet as undiluted Isopure but more interesting than plain water. I'm assuming that your only objection to Isopure is the taste and that it's not triggering your lactose intolerance. I hope you find something that works for you!

You could always go with the NON-liquid choices. Stallone pudding is NOT lactose, or the Premier nutrition bars all have 30g's of protein and don't taste horrible. Optisource also has a protein bar that isn't too bad. If your looking for non-lactose options, try that. Kellogs also does Protein water, though it's only like 6g's or so....
