Is popcorn ok?
I'm 5 weeks post op? Doc said to eat regular foods but wasn't very specific. How about nuts?

Hi!
I eat nuts, love them as snacks. All kinds, although I started with almonds. I'm almost 5 months post op now and I probably have been eating nuts for a couple of months. Try a few, chew chew chew, and see how it goes down (unless your doctor says no).
Have not tried popcorn. Kind of afraid to do that.

I have been eating cashew nuts since early out and have had popcorn with no problems (smartpopcorn) just remember everyone is different, you will have to give a small amount a try.

Everyone is definitely different... cashews and cheese was a favorite snack of mine pre-op, but now cashews make me extremely nauseated. I eat smartpop popcorn with no problem (4 cups for a 120 calorie snack).

I have no basis for saying this, but it just seems to me Popcorn is something best left for those farther out...I eat it everyday with no problem..but it has got to be tough on a "new" pouch, wouldn't ya think?

I agree, popcorn is mighty tough on a new pouch... think of those hard parts of the kernels, you know, the stuff that get stuck in your teeth-- I would think that would be QUITE hard for little Pouchies to digest!!
I had popcorn at a movie when I was about 6 months out... I had maybe a cup's worth (no extra butter added), and halfway through the movie I got SOOOO sick. Let's just say I was tremendously relieved to find a single stall PRIVATE bathroom in the theater, because it was coming out of both ends... ugh!
After that experience, I may NEVER do popcorn again...

Oh gosh, thank you!
I was going to have some popcorn today at the movies, but what a dumb idea that was. If I try anything, I should do that at HOME first. I needed that wakeup call.

Popcorn is my favorite food!
I have a small bag (no butter) when I go to the movies along with a bottle of water (I bring a couple Crystal Lite packets with me). I've learned to eat it slowly - one kernal at a time, and I find I enjoy it much more. The bag last's me about 1/2 of the movie, then switch to my water afterwards. Very refreshing and filling for me.
