It's official. I'm...
...the only person in the world that this surgery doesn't work for. I'm 3 and a half weeks out and haven't lost a pound in the last week. Yeah, yeah, I know all the things that y'all are gonna say...plateau, it happens to everyone, it'll pass...but it's just so damn frustrating to not see the numbers go down.
I'm thinking of tossing my brand new really cool scale...because it hates me. I swear it does. It talks about me behind my back...and stares evilly up at me with the same old number. I swear I can hear it cackle when I leave the room. Treacherous bitch....LOL.
I feel like I rerouted my innards and wound up with this stupid diaphragmatic hematoma just to lose 25 pounds....period. I feel duty bound and way too stubborn toward all the people in my life who questioned my decision, to admit buyer's remorse out loud, but it sure is tempting to admit it quietly in my heart. I know intellectually this will pass...but I guess I'm having my own pity party. And I can't even have cake at my own damn party! How fair is that?
I guess I'll just go tie a knot and hang on...maybe I'll clip my toenails and see if that makes the scale move....

I know you don't wanna hear the plateau, it takes time, your bodys' just adjusting thing but IT'S TRUE!!!!!
I lost 15lbs total in my first 5 weeks. Now in under a year I've lost 150lbs and that seems to be my lot.
Buyers remorse sucks - I had it - as have many others but we've all made it to the same beautiful place in the end - and so will YOU!

Debbie,
((((((hugs)))))))
I'm sorry you are feeling so discouraged...sometimes I feel that way too. Its the hardest thing I've ever done, I think. So I know how you feel.
Just try not to get too discouraged...things will look up...really it will. Its so early...both of us are. I think we'll chat in a year and be so happy....just hang in there.

I'm with ya!
I'm a month out tomorrow and my scale hasn't moved in 12 days We must have the same scale! Mine sits in front of my bathroom window and it's been very tempting to toss it out!
I'm with you here Debz...it's very frustrating to try your best and not see results. BUT, my results are coming in as inches lost...as measured by smaller clothes fitting. And no, I haven't been exercising.
Have you measured yourself since surgery? (Did you before surgery?) I was very happily surprised to go from a 22 to an 18.
So try on a few smaller clothes! You never know!
Teri

I'm only six weeks out... so I feel funny giving you advice... but to be honest this isn't advice because I think you have already done what you need to do.
You have communicated your frustration and that is what always made me feel better. I would look at my husband and just ball asking him why he let me do this to myself... he loved me just the way I was... I loved me just the way I was... why on earth did I do this... and I would feel better a bit later...
25lbs isn't something to sniff at either... and I know you don't want to hear anything about the stalls in weight loss... so I won't bore you with that...
But I promise it will pass... I would have killed to lose 25lbs in three weeks before WLS! shoot that might have taken me three months to lose! haha
It gets better in a few weeks... my turning point was the 5th week... I started feeling human again...
I'm rooting for you Debz... if you need anything let me know...

LOL this made me LOL.
Hope this makes you feel better, but after surgery I lost 9 lbs and just stopped at 245 for 2 1/2 weeks before I started losing again. I had THE EXACT SAME FEELING YOU DO NOW ! ! ! ! ! And I said the same thing. Thats why I'm LOL'ing here.
So don't worry and it'll pass.

Debz, I feel your frustration. My scale didn't move this past week and I thought " is this it?" I guess we just keep on truckin'. I hope the scale moves for you soon.

Perspective
First of all when was the last time you lost 25 lbs in a month? Give your body a break! I lost weight so slowly, because I just couldn't eat enough and with all the sickness it wasn't possible. My body went into starvation mode, nearly took me 18 months to lose the weight. For me it was good because my body doesn't look bad from excess skin. I could probably do nothing plastics wise and be fine. Get rid of scale, and measure yourself. One month I lost 2 lbs and lost about 10 inches. It will work, just give it time. Janie
