Default Personal Milestone

I'm very excited right now...having trouble just staying in my own skin!

The setup: I've been hitting the gym for about 2 months now, and during the last month, I've been averaging 5 visits a week, about 90 minutes a visit. I've been doing the bike (3 miles) and the treadmill (2 miles) and the weights, slowly working myself towards some ultimate goals.

During the last East County meeting, I shared that I had hit my first major goal - the 15 minute mile.

Well today, 3 weeks later, tonight I pushed like heck and I did a marvelous...(drum roll/dramatic pause)

12 minute mile! I kept the pace up for a mile and half! Oh man, am I loving this new me! Of course, my wife wonders what happened to her husband sometimes, but it's not in a bad way!

I had to buy back up gym pants and I came home with the standard XXL - they were baggy as heck! I couldn't even make them work by puling the drawstrings out as far as possible. I had to take 'em back and get...(drum roll/dramatic pause)

XL! I'm wearing XL pants!? I was wearing a size 60 just 11 months ago! I'm wearing an XL-Tall jacket, and I was wearing a 6X jacket pre-surgery!

I'm so incredibly happy with how things are progressing, and I have to thank all of you for all of the wonderful support and motivation! Seeing all of you go through your daily troubles and tribulations, as well as marvelous achievements, have pushed me further than I could have gone on my own. My wife's support has been huge - she transfered me over from the Y to the 24 Hour Fitness Center so that I could have more accessibility in terms of hours (the Y shuts down at 7 on Saturdays and 5 on Sundays!).

Ultimately, it's Dr C that gets the major, mad props, yo! (translation: I am humbly grateful for his help)

Life is good. Thanks to everyone!

Mike:

Wow! That's quite an improvement...shaving 3 minutes off your mile in just a matter of days. Congratulations!

You don't even look like you should be wearing an XL...maybe a large! You really carry your weight very well.

Congratulations, friend! Happy to be able to give you props!

That is incredible news. I am so proud of you...and a bit jealous that you are so good at working out! You are going to be completely slim and trim in no time! You are only 16 lbs from goal, OMG!

Mike that is great. Do you have sport or active? Hillcrest is remodeling and they were having a 5.00 per month upgrade to sport no other fees. I just upgraded to sport last week.

Katy, it's a sport. I got the package where I can workout at any of their locations. I figure I'll try the one at Miramar this Friday after work, since it's close and I'm working late. That way I can skip the traffic! Hopefully!

I like all of the equipment, but some of the people there are a bit intimidating.

I keep remembering BigBaldBuddie's statement from the last East County Meeting; 20 days to make a habit. So, to be sure, I've made it 40 days! Now it's a part of my physical makeup (I hope!).

Only 16 pounds...unfortunately these last 16 don't seem to want to leave. I'm about 1 week away from admitting that I've hit a plateau.

Thanks for the support!
