When I was there they both had 2 wonderful nurses. One of Robins friends came while I was there visiting, so thus gave Tawna and I lots of time to talk about the long lived pasts. Which was wonderful. Im really glad I went and saw you both, Im really excited to see you 2 progress in the near furture. For now sip, rest, walk and repeat.

Dawn, how nice of you to go and visit both Robin and Tawna. So glad to hear they are both doing so well.

I don't know what an ON-Q thing is. I know that I didn't have one after, so maybe it's the best thing ever!

The On-Q pump has a thread that they implant under your skin, it disperses lidocaine to help with the surgical pain. It really did help, I took mine out before it was done, It drove me crazy, and noticed a difference when I took it out. TAWNA...don't take it out too soon!
I think both Robin and Tawna are doing so well, because they're totally prepared for what to expect...and they have each other to compare notes with. They were (as I was) soooooooo ready for this...I think there's also a little post-op high (not the drugs, an emotional high) that occurs for some people.
I'm so glad you're both doing so great!!!

Lynda..you do so well at explaining things. You're absolutely right and BOY did it help. Now that it's out I can feel the pouch taking in liquids. I'm trying to get a relationship going with HER so she doesn't get pissy on me. Now I need to vent...I still weight MORE than the day I went into the hospital! What the heck is up with that??? I thought week one was major losing week. Well this just sucks and I'm not happy about it. I have a lot (post-surgery) to be thankful for, and I truly am, but I don't want to be 4 days post-op still weighing MORE than before surgery. Is it because of the salty broths I've been eating and Dr Kelly stopping my diuretic meds? Well, no more broth for me, I'll find something else that's clear liquid that will help sustain life.

Robin Dear,
Not to despair! Anytime you have anesthesia you can count on a temporary weight gain of 6 lbs or so. Add that with temporarily stopping your water pills, and there you have it. It will drop off, and when you see your doc, see if you can start taking your diuretics again. Important to help your body--drink lots of water!! Take a sip every few minutes. Water is vital for soothing your poor pouchie, flushing out the anesthetic toxins, and get you back in the groove. I predict that within the next week you will have lost the 6 surgery lbs and another 4 lbs from the surgery itself. Cool? It's good that you can have broth, try SF popsicles--they're cold (good) and don't cause water retention like broth can.
You have my phone number (I hope!) Go ahead and use it. If you don't, pm me and I will give it to you to have if you want to vent to a real person. But you'll be okay, and I know you are prepared for the healing process.
