Default Bad Breath!

I'm finally feeling better after getting through Hell Week and treating the infection from the IV.

What bothers me more than anything right now is bad breath. I'm not talking about the type you can wash away with a swish of mouthwash...this seems to come from within. And it really stinks. I've brushed my teeth 6 times a day, used mouthwash, mints, and it still lingers.

What's going on? I've NEVER had bad breath before! Is something that's normal after surgery? Will it go away? What can I do to get rid of it?

Thanks for your help,
Teri

Not to worry...it'll go away. Keep drinking your water. I think it's related to ketosis (when you drop your carbs ketosis is the state where you'll lose a lot of weight really fast). Mostly it's a bad taste in your mouth, not really bad breath that will send people running for the hills!!!

Default If it helps any...

It's a good sign that you're doing well, staying away from carbs, focusing on protein. Here's a good article about it: http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/gui...use-bad-breath. The more water/liquid you drink the better, and of course, even though the article says to add carbs, that's not good advice for you right now. The other good news is that this will fade soon. Your body will adjust to the low-carb, high-protein, and drop out of ketosis before too long.

I had it too and I would say around month 3 it started getting better! Hang in there, it's worth it!
